If you work over time you get told about it, if your job isn't finished you get told about it. But If you call in every week, it's Okay!. Kroger needs to grow some balls and the Union needs to stop backing up lazy workers. Someone from my department called in again this week. I don't remember what her excuse was, but I know she really called in because she didn't want to close the last hour by herself and actually have to do some work. She also probably called in because until that last hour she would be working with me. She can hate me all she wants, but if you can't do your job and do it right, you shouldn't be working any where. I worked last night the last 2 hours by myself and worked again tonight the last 3 hours by my self. I haven't heard one person (from my store) tell me that I'm doing a Good job. But they surely won't hesitate to point out my mistakes or not complain if I end up with over time. If they don't want me to work over time they need to get rid of the ones who keep calling in and leaving me the work.

This is all over Kroger. Good work is not rewarded. Overtime is forbidden even if you had to work over because of a crisis and cutting the time means you cause a crisis another day. Problem employees are shifted around, protected, etc. other than job abandonment or theft it's hard to deal with these things. The union is part of the problem.

That's not right at all! Kroger advertises that they reward and recognize their hard-workers. They should stand by that and stop rewarding laziness and no shows. I know that the first time I was to call in and not have written proof of my reason for calling in they would discipline me. They should treat all employees same and ignore the threats of the Union. People just use that to get away with doing nothing.

Writing the story of my life with this post almost. I've been put on notice to not go into over time by closing by myself. As it's most important to focus in on what is going on BEHIND the counter versus the sales floor. Only hit that when/if I have time for it on closing. But dude, even if I don't get out there to it(which I don't always), I still have to take a bunch of cake orders, write on cakes, etc. for customers. And that eats into my time as well. Since we can't tell the customers we can't do orders or writing at that time of the night.

But yet and still, they play games with the folks that don't always do a complete job. They will shuffle them to the other side of the dept. Or totally accept whatever excuse they have for calling off. Left right and center. But let me not do something a time or two. And then it's like I can't hear enough about it the next few days. It's like are you freaking kidding me?!

Not to mention, I get hit with more excuses about why I can't get help with something. When yet and still I see some people taking trash out together or helping each other do the truck. But when it comes to me even asking for one of the grey carts so I don't have to be taking in one box at a time. It's all "well you gotta make do, we don't have a lot of carts right now". But then another few mins later the DH swings through with a cart and ask how much more I have to do! Ugh, end of rant but yea, I write all this to say I totally feel your pain. Actually going to fill it even more tomorrow cause I will be on my own so to speak as there will just be me and the back up cake decorator(queen of the call offs) and I have to not only bring up truck by myself, but do the bread slack out on my own. As one of my back up managers that was supposed to have been on, got her hours switched by the DH. So there won't be much help save for our other back up, for the entirety of my shift!

Joy of joys on getting everything brought up, put away, slacked out, and baked on time. As the other back up, love her to death cause she is awesome. Is going to be pulled every which way in Chicken shop and other parts of Deli too. And although the back up cake decorator doubles as a bakery clerk at times too. I doubt she is going to even look in my direction for much help. As she barely likes using her time wisely enough to get her own orders together.

Wish they had some type of performance bonus or something to actually incentivize or recognize reliable, hardworking people who consistently show up on time, don't call off, and get things done. As it is, it doesn't matter if you show up to every shift, on time, and get double the work done.... other lazy people will still be making the exact same amount, and often it seems like the bad behavior is what gets noticed more.
