May 8, 2017 To: UFCW Local 1996 Kroger Members We are pleased to announce that the Negotiation Committees for the Union and the Company have reached a tentative agreement on a new 4-year Collective Bargaining Agreement. We are in the process of preparing the (MOA) Memorandum of Agreement which will take a few weeks to complete. Our goal is to have the MOA available two weeks prior to the ratification vote. We will also be providing you with the details of the voting times, dates and locations in the near future. When the MOA is completed, we will distribute and post on the union website at www.ufcw1996.org for your review. You must be a union member to vote on the Memorandum of Agreement. I would like to take this opportunity to commend both committees for the Union and The Kroger Company for their hard work and dedication working through this very complex process. Notice the Union. Stiffs said a complex agreement and not an excellent agreement. Anything less than 10 hr start and less than $2.00 hr across the board for higher pay grades effective Immediately and 7no phasein, I say reject and vote strike. Walmart has been at $10 bucks starting for like 18 months now
Agreed about the $10.00 and $2.00----that is what I am hearing from my store Admin. If there is not this in the contract, plus profit sharing, I am voting no on the contract
Let's see if they do all at once or a staggered phasing over the 4 years? I'm sure they are going to cite the health insurance benefit and the two all face as mid to low salary workers under what Republicans and Trump are trying to do to all of us in this group in healthcare reform.
If they don't go to 10 bucks on starting right away they will be huge disadvantage in hiring going against Walmart Target tjmaxx and others already there for months now.
