How much worse can this company get? It seems like they expect so many tasks finished by 9 AM, Fresh Kitchen ran, lows and holes scans, backstock scans, truck broken down, cooler 5 Sd, dept filled and ready for business. All of this, while sending relief help up front. Don't know how much more I can take.
All of those can be done except for the truck being stacked and 5S, since pallets of product kind of prevent that. But all that stuff is doable by 9am if you have at least 3, although possible with 2, people who know what they're doing come in at 5am.
if everyone comes in 6a-7a not possible, too much **** to do then
Are you a manager? I heard the company has been cracking down on manhours the store can use. All I can say is you should look for greener pastures, I heard Walmart pays its salaried managers much better then Kroger does. Same bull**** but at least you will eat well when you get paid.

I'm a dept head, but not a salaried manager. Yes, the company is cracking WAY down on man hours.

A lot of stores don't have that luxury though. And yet, even the small stores, that only have 1 person in a dept. at a time, still expect the same standards. For example, in my store, there's only 2 (or sometimes only 1) person in the deli until sometimes 11am, and yet they're supposed to have grab and go and salads done at 9am as well as markdowns, and the first person doesn't come in until 7.

I was talking about Produce. I thought OP was produce also.
Funnily enough, today me and another guy came into our department this morning at 5 am and everything was a disaster from the tables empty to the wall a wreck and we had reset the entire department by 9 am from holes everywhere to full and fresh. Just two guys. Markdowns and code dates were done too. I think people just need to pick up their pace and/or get their priorities straight.
Most of us are in the **** just like you. I work overnight grocery at a small store. 900- piece load came in and all I had was 16 hours of help and that's with my 8 hours. After my scans and the mandatory back stock/unloading truck/residual scan before the store opens. It's impossible, but yet I'm made to look like the idiot that can't do his job right. Been at Kroger for over 4 years and I'm at the point where I take the first job out of here.

Yeah i figured you were talking about produce, i was just saying that a lot of depts are getting screwed by these new standards.
and to the other poster above, yeah people don't understand how hard small stores are. i'm not saying bigger stores don't have it rough as well, but with small stores you can't even have enough people to accomplish much of anything. Many nights there's only 2 people in the store for night crew. But yet, small stores are told to fit the same rules and standards as the larger stores. Like for me, bakery is supposed to be set by 9am, even though we come in at 5 to bake, meanwhile my home store bakes at 3, and some marketplaces around here have a baker come in at midnight.

I concur. The times I was opening Deli was a trip. Having to get the grab and go together, keep up with Clicklist orders. Even swapping out the salads and so forth. And still not being fully sure of where things were located at half the time would get me behind. And don't even get me started on when someone is like "have you started that fruit or veggie tray yet?" And it's like when do I have time when I've never really done one before. But also have to turn on the pizza shops stove, make the tea, take the chairs down in the cafe area. Do markdowns, put our fresh kitchen stuff out. And yea, for our Deli as well, no one comes in til 7 a.m.
