calling out on rejected time-off request
Permalink

so i basically have made up my mind i'm going to call in today, and please spare me the lectures btw; a supervisor in greatpeople rejected my one day time-off request that i put in weeks ago. i'm not worried about getting a write up because i'll be quitting soon, but can i be fired on the spot for doing this (i would assume not)?

i would just think it is just one of your handful of sick days you get per year
i don't have a ride to or from work and i knew in advance which is why i put the date in

i would also like to know if 7-8 hours before your shift starts is too early to make the call to management.

You need to call in 1 hour before the shift under most contracts.  2 hours before the shift under other contracts.  You can call as early as you want.  It will give them time to find a replacement if they want.

I and another manager were discussing calling off when a requested day off is denied yesterday.  He said it will be considered a no call, no show even if you call in.  Do call in because I doubt many managers are aware it is considered a no call, no show.  As long as you don't have a ton of write-ups, I doubt they can fire you on the spot.

thank you, sadhu sadhu sadhu. i decided to say **** it and not call in, going to tough it out today and at least i can present them with my 2 week in the process

did not feel like dealing with any pressure of having to come up with an excuse (lie); such gives bad karma #bless
