Call In

I've been working for Kroger almost a year , I always go to work on time but recently I have not. So today I called in, I had a 4 hour shift and I called in 5 hours prior to when I was suppose to come in. My manager said that he would find someone to cover my shift so I was like cool. He called me an hour prior asking can I come in because he couldn't find anyone. Then I asked if I would get written up and he said we would talk about it. Now here's the wrong turn, The store has hired 6+ cashiers recently and have not taught anyone to work USCAN. I've called in once before out of all the time I've been working and they were hesitate with that. I almost missed my grandmothers funeral because my store manager said I couldn't call in because of memorial day. I don't know what to do, any tips ???? because my anxiety has anxiety right now. They never pressure others when they call in .

Don't worry about it.

1 call in within a year is not a big deal.  Do NOT make a habit of it.

They might have a verbal discussion about it.  It usually takes several call ins to make a write-up.

If you never call in, a write-up will fall off your record in no time.

They can't write you up for that. you gave them notice, you are not obligated to come in just because they couldn't find someone else. Stuff happens. If they try to discipline you don't answer any questions, and ask for your union rep. Don't sign anything. If you refuse to answer questions and ask for your union rep they have to let you go back to work.

Call in you have three days memorandum regardless of when it happens.  Say for example my grandmother passed the week of Thanksgiving.  For simple one day call ins for illness (preferably), a recommended 12 to twenty four hours in advance unless it's sudden.  Doctor's notes also help.  You can't get in trouble.  If you do call the union.
