Does anyone know if I can do anything about my unit manager? We're running a skeleton crew (can't keep anyone for more than a month), and it's turning out to be 10 hour nights minimum, which is fine most of the time, but times I want to follow my schedule due to plans, my manager loses his mind.
I don't think he's got too much idea of how to manage employees - I've been with Kroger for almost a decade now and the turnover rate under this guy is unbelievable. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this, and I'm feeling the push myself.
Anyhow, the guy's lately been following me out to my car demanding to know why X wasn't done, blowing up my phone (despite I ask he not contact me off work hours), and sending vaguely threatening texts. Anything I can do? I'm considering contacting the union, but I'm worried since the job isn't getting 100% done, it might still end up badly in my court.
Contact the union. Technically they can't force you to work longer than what you're scheduled. Even if they do, you just say you have other obligations. Kroger isn't your life nor should it ever be.
As for following you out to your car... that is harassment. If you're clocked out you shouldn't even talk of work. If you want to talk to me about my job or what is or isn't done you do that on the clock. I'm at least getting paid for hearing a manager bitch.
Before you go to the Union, Contact your KMA HR. If the Texts are that bad, that's proof enough of harassment. If HR doesn't do anything, then thats when you get the Union involved or the Associate Help Line.
