Lottery ticket roll in trash
Permalink

Today, just before I got off, I was emptying booth trash into dumpster out back I found a roll of unused lottery tickets inside dumpster. I checked them out and they were current. I wonder should I keep them and hope for the best (on winning cash) or would I be found out? What if I cashed them at a different place?

a book of scratch off tickets has to be activated on the lotto machine before they can be sold so if there are winners you cannot cash them because they are not activated. throw them away and act like you never saw them. do you want a criminal record or do you already have one

Even if they are activated, Someone probably put them in there to get them later on. But as stated above, if you try and cash without them being activated, they can and will show up as non activated and you WILL be prosecuted for fraud and theft. Then you WILL loose your job, but have plenty of money....that YOU OWE to pay legal fees. In other words,

Your lottery winnings: $000.00 (or whatever amount)

Your fees: a VERY HIGH amount

I would have brought them back to the person in the cash booth and tell them where you found them. It sounds like they accidentally fell into the trash can.

At this point you've done nothing wrong, hopefully.

Return them.

They are no use to you.  Unless you want jail time.

We have police cruise the perimeter of our store periodically. Including out back where our dumpsters are. We had this one guy a few years back, who 'found a bottle of Jack Daniels unopened. He was caught putting it into his backpack before his shift started, intending to take it to his car. Well police put a good scare into him and had a talk with him and "followed him into the store to make sure he returned the product. They didn't inform management. The talk was sufficient. But he learned a valuable lesson. You never knowbwho is watching. That guy? Me.

Could you scratch them first and if the roll is profitable activate them after and put the money in the register for the cost of them? lol.

These tickets are definitely useless to you. They would bring you misfortune rather than victory.

If you want to try your luck and try your hand at gambling, it is better to try to play in an online casino

I never liked lotteries, because there is a lot of bureaucracy, which I never liked.

You'll be held accountable for money laundering. If an employee hording coupons was fired for hording them and then they created a training video based upon it. You can't should not steal lottery tickets. It's like the deli staff in my store being terminated a couple years ago because they were taking food home rather than tossing it out.

Nah, those tickets expired a decade ago.

Sounds like those tickets may have been activated already and "hidden" in the trash for future use. But you found the tickets before the original thief could reclaim them. No ticket roll "falls into the trash" of it's own accord.

No, someone was planning on grabbing them later on and scratching them off claiming winning tickets. You found it first.

Good thing too. Because management will be ecstatic and thankful when you TURN IN the lottery tickets. Even more happy when they realize they were NOT SCRATCHED OFF.

You could be held accountable for money laundering. Don't do it. This is a fire able offence.

OP you should scratch them could be some serious winnings in that roll. You only live once go for it for for broke

As I keep saying: Don't do it can be counted as money laundering. Immediate termination.

If deli workers can get fired for eating food that should of been tossed out you can be fired for taking a lottery roll out of the trash can.

odd they're to shred these and dispose of them properly. *chough* take them if no video camera servalience is near by. If there is a camera or witness don't risk your job. Some times people will toss these out hoping to scoop them up later.

Could it have been dumped from another non-Kroger store? We have a Race Trac store across the street from us-just saying....

Leave it in the trash people unless you want to be terminated or sued for money laundering. These were to be disposed of differently.
