Trouble aquiring a key product in your department...

Was curious if anybody else is having trouble getting in key products in their department lately or no. For the bakery it's been our 16 count mini cinnamon rolls that haven't made an appearance since late September no matter how often we've ordered them. Our Meat department also can't seem to get or find any stickers that say Special on them for the stuff they have to label either.

Not sure if our bakery just can't keep up with the demand of other stores needing the cinnamon rolls as well. No clue on the stickers though. But do know the customers are hella annoyed and pissed off at us for not having the 16 count cinnamon rolls in forever. But nothing we can really do about it.

Produce typically gets a lot of scratches with salads and sometimes even popular fresh produce. I've worked through cycles of all navel oranges getting scratched, no lemons, no limes, no broccoli, terrible quality trawberries and grapes, rotten tomatoes, all stuff we've had to throw away and the customer couldn't buy.

The worst was probably last year when we literally couldn't get a single lemon and no outside companies had any available we could order. Customers were absolutely pissed, more so than when we can't get any broccoli.

But yeah I don't think any department gets beat up about scratches as much as produce. How does it look when a customer can't even buy a single orange at a Kroger store?

Yes, this past year has been really bad as far as getting bad produce, or having items completely scratched at the warehouse.  Alot of the problems go back to bad weather somewhere........Florida, California, or wherever.

A few weeks ago we ran out of oranges and had none at all for quite a few days in a row. When any customers asked why, I simply said something like "remember that hurricane that went through Florida a few weeks ago?  I think alot of oranges were damaged, and many of them were just sold to be processed as orange juice-- they couldn't be sold as whole fruit". Which created a shortage later, as a ""delayed effect".   Most customers are understanding if you try to give them a little background info.

I found this with a google search...........

It's possible the MSI number for the 16 count cinnamon has changed and you weren't notified of the change. They frequently do that and then not inform anybody.

yeah, they do stupid things like that quite a bit. like when we couldn't get Pb no bake cookies for forever... then all of a sudden, new ones showed up in a different container with a new msi number.

As far as i know though, 16 count cinn rolls haven't changed.

That is bad for the single fruit items. But yea my bakery has totally been having scratches left and right this year as well. From Apple Fritters, which is pretty common sometimes to have be scratched. To the 1/2 sheet cakes which hardly EVER get scratched.

It's just really sad though for the cinnamon rolls cause if we never had anything else we always had those with the 2 bite ones for the customers. And now looks like we won't see them until the new year, if even then.

More than likely it is a manufacturing problem, We have been out of them for a while also. The no bake cookies we finally got in yesterday after being out for a few weeks as well. We just did our Marketplace regrand opening yesterday and had a few holes on tables. They were scratching those 2 items plus a few others that had all the techs in a tizzy that we were going to have holes on the floor.

We haven't had a problem receiving the 16 count mini cinnamon rolls.  That's why I asked about the MSI number.  We're having the opposite problem with Hawaiian rolls.  We  have over 200 cases and they keep adding out more each day.   We have four pallets in the freezer.  Each pallet has an average of 50 cases on it.

I keep getting Kings Hawaiian rolls added out as well. I have 7 uboats full. Our frozen food department head is not happy with all of the space I am taking up. I have two uboats in my freezer along with 3 full shelves of my freezer.  i am in the Columbus division. When you scan 16 count cinn rolls in lows and holes in the handheld it comes up as warehouse out of stock.

No clue on the MSI number. I don't personally do the ordering for my department. So no clue. But yes, we have King's Hawaiian out of the ying yang as well in our freezer. Have one full U boat, 3 shelves and a whole space underneath where the fudge is being held and double layer cakes are. So will be plenty glad when the holidays are behind us. Just team too many rolls. >_<
