Has anyone else's store sales dropped?  Just found out that our hours given to departments are determined by sales.  I guess this makes sense, but what doesn't is why my hours are cut down to two when we currently lost two full timers.  Shouldn't this mean that we have more hours to give out then?  We have 10 people all together in my department two of which are department heads whom are both obviously full time, one of my coworkers is pt, but only works two days out of the week and is never scheduled anymore than this.  Maybe the reason why my hours are getting cut is because we got 3 new people?  They're included in the 10.

Sales are always low at the first of the year

Hours are dependent on Sale Volume, but in reality you should have enough PT people to staff your department with them working 20-25 hours a week. What happens is during the holidays they hire and hire people, when they should really try bumping up PT people to 25-35 hours a week. Also, depending on your Division they will add hours to the sales forecast/schedule that are not dependent on sales during holidays.

Hours are actually given on tonnage, not sales although the two usually follow along pretty closely. Also, if you're thinking sales dropped, look at year over year sales, not just week by week. There is a fair amount of fluctuation depending on the time of year. Also, you may have been overscheduled with the two full timers due to hour obligations and now you're on track with what you were supposed to have to begin with.
