I used to work for the Kroger Corp, but have since moved on. It USED to be a good company, but lately, it is nothing more than a greedy corporation interested ONLY in lining its pockets with money. I will tell of why I left this pathetic company. I worked there for more than 11 years. My last year there, I was unfortunate enough to work a store with the WORST store manager ever. She was a complete bitch. She made problems out of nothing and expected you to clean them up. If you didnt do what she thought you should, you would get into trouble. The only decent thing was, she wasnt MY manager. She ran the store, but I answered to another manager and supervisor. On this particular day, she had an altercation with a customer that she started. I was called to help her. I didnt get involved because she was wrong and shouldnt have pushed the situation. When he didnt leave when she asked, she yelled at me to call the police. Since this was not an emergency, I called the non-emergency number. I was put on hold for quite some time. During this time, the customer left. I hung up the phone. A little later, I got a call from my supervisor asking what had happened and why didnt I call the police when I was told to. I told them that I DID, in fact, call the police and that she was lying. Lying to get someone in trouble is a SERIOUS violation of Kroger policy. I was told by my supervisor to send them an email detailing the situation. On the way back to a computer, I stopped and showed this bitch the call log on my cell phone that had the exact date, time and number, to prove to her that I called the police when she told me to. First, she stated that I was texting on my phone. When I told her she was wrong and that I was just dialing the number, she then stated that I didnt do it fast enough. She then started yelling at me so I left and sent the email. About two weeks later, my supervisor showed up and gave me a 5 day suspension over this. She got NOTHING. I went and spoke to my manager, and he came out and told me that she was wrong. I had a call log AND there was video evidence to back me up. He simply stated that despite all that, he was going to do NOTHING about it. He just told me to take the suspension AND move from day shift to graveyard shift and forget about it. He even went so far as to say I was lucky I still had my job. I sucked it up for a few months until I got a better job and then quit that ****ty job. That same manager had a habit of making a decision and then interpreting the company policy to fit with his decision. There is a reason why Kroger is one of the top corporations to NOT work for.
I just work store level and have caught a employee stealing maybe around 5 times. Each time with proof. I was transfered and told to never mention it again with very subtle maybe threats.
Might be some holes but something happened I'm guessing.
The main take-away here is this: Nobody cares about anything or anybody, just money. Kroger doesn't care about anything or anybody, just money. Kroger sucks huge ass. People suck ass. When our sun blows up none of this trivial stuff will be remembered by anybody because everything will be charcoal briquettes.
