Can anyone tell me how to remove the Legal Fund deduction from my payroll? I never signed up for it. Not sure why $8.00 is being taken from my paycheck.
Ask hr. I always pay attention to my paychecks to be sure they're trying not to pull an extra tax on me. I'd ask about it in detail. If you didn't sign up for it you shouldn't have to pay for it. You shouldn't have to cover their legal fees.

Thank you! I hope I can get the funds that were taken, refunded back to me.
I was told that it isnt an option. That you HAVE NO CHOICE. That's what I was told. I dont know if it's TRUE or not. My ex co-worker who worked booth use to help himself to $8.00 out of the booth safe each week to "repay" the 'Legal Fund' tax taken out of his paycheck weekly. He was caught a month later and fired.

Yeah...unfortunately you're right. I spoke to the store's Administrative Assistant and she said it's apart of the union dues which gives the employees access to legal help when needed. Too bad I was never told this and I'm sure alot of employees are unaware. So far, a total of $16 is taken from my paycheck...
If you go back and review your paystub further you will realize that you are not truly paying for the legal fund. It is considered a free benefit from the union/ Kroger. I new law passed a few years ago that made employees pay taxes on such benefit. If you really examine your check you will see the $8 is put down as earnings so it can be taxed, Then at the bottom, you will see where the $8 is taken back out. You are only paying like $0.25-0.50 not $8. IN other words Kroger is giving your the $8 to pay for it before it is even deducted
