So, I got some insider information. The good news is, we who're the engine ( working people, not the salaried guys ) of the company get to keep our jobs. Bad news is as I've heard the company is looking to sell to a chinese company. A TOP chinese company. So, If you don't look at staying, maybe you should consider a trade or skill in the next 6 months? Maybe even Walmart or some other company if you prefer. If not, put on your seat-belt because 2020 is gonna' be a wild and intense ride!

Hmmm. To paraphrase.........reminds me of the line "Fasten your seat belts, it's gonna be a bumpy night" (replace "night" with "year 2020")!??!!
The company is going to tear it self down from the inside out. Then crash and burn big time leaving millions without a job and being pissed at their company.
It's no different than when Safeway decided to sell their Canadian stores and be a huge idiot and sell 70% of their assets that was giving them a huge advantage to the market. They reduced them selves to the states only and ended up struggling. Gee I wonder why?
I will quit before I will work for a Mainland Chinese company!!
I don't blame you at all. Communist China doesn't believe in Unions. So the unions if this company is sold to them will be removed. But I highly doubt it. It's a rumor.
Thats been in the works for a while. Alibaba is the company. Imagine a Chinese Amazon type company only bigger than Amazon. Kroger sells thier store brand labels in China through Alibaba.
I wouldn't think Alibaba would buy any grocery US chain, if anything Target would be more ideal. Like Amazon they are an internet company and I'm guessing most items are now sold my 3rd parties. If anything Alibaba might launch a US branded website, which open their doors to a new market.
Think is Amazon had huge internet competitor, Prime Membership would be gone, 1-2 day delivery would be standard.
Alibaba? The rule of a Chinese dictatorship should be pretty much the same as that of the racketeering bastards at Kroger. Recall how the Chinese government reacted to an NBA guy expressing an unauthorized opinion? At least China was up front about it.
