No, there's just a lot of fatties out there. Our delli and bakery seem to have a balance of thin people and fat people both male and female.
I hope I won't make everybody mad here, but I am going to tell the truth (at least very close to the truth), and what I have observed with Kroger Deli Dept as well as other similar types of jobs.
Yes, most women who work in the deli, at least if they stay for a long time, tend to be heavy-set. If they are not heavy set, they tend to be somewhat unattractive in another way. If they are thin, the chances are very high they are nicotine addicts/chain smokers, unable to stop smoking, and have been smoking since about 16 years old, if not younger. They DO stay skinny BUT their smoking is destroying their once-good looks, and their faces are slowly being ravaged --- becoming very heavily creased, wrinkled, with "vertical cigarette lines" above their mouth.
The reason most deli women are either heavy set, or skinny and a smoker, or not attractive is because most (not all but most) truly attractive, beautiful women think they are TOO GOOD to work at menial jobs such as slicing meat at the deli, or frying chicken, or washing pots and pans.
They think with their good looks they should be able to snag a better job, and they are, in many cases, correct. Sorry, but that is a sad reality. This is the same situation with school lunch cafeteria workers. Remember how most of them looked? And even if they were pretty, that ugly hairnet and uniform made them look unattractive.
Now, in case you might be offended by any of this, let me make it clear I have a lot of love and compassion for these women.......some of the nicest and kindest women I have ever met in my life. I am speaking only of their strictly physical appearance, not their heart and soul.
Society is just fat or politically correct words curvy. It's due to how food and society has changed. My grandparents ate worse than us and they were thinner due to the fact their foods were 100% natural.

They stay skinny because nicotine takes away the urge to eat.
I feel out of place since I'm a non-smoker (and have career/educational goals) and I have nothing to add to personal discussion for the fat ones that don't move their bodies while I workout and have an interest in sports. It makes for a very long day when you don't have anything in common to discuss with your coworkers.
As for fatness, I utterly hate fat middle-aged women. They love to waste everyone's time and they're needy.
Needy here means they can't walk around on their own to find stuff and they don't know how to problem solve because their diabetic (or pre-diabetic) condition has ruined them permanently brain-wise to reason through issues. Most people reason whether they need something before leaving their house without relying on the sales associate to do their problem solving for them.
Again, I hate the fat female ones. I have no compassion for them.
I once saw a female fat one at a go-cart track and she got rear ended really hard because she was blocking and driving slow. The track official stopped the race. Everyone waiting in line to get the next race (including me) got pissed. One guy in lined shouted out "SHAKE IT OFF!"
They love to waste everyone's time.
If you don't like being called FAT then STAY HOME!
