I'll start it off: It's terrible where I am. Kroger has ruined it's reputation by creating a terrible employee atmosphere. So now they can't find ppl that want the privilege of working 8 days a week, with increasing work loads, and less OT pay.
The smaller the staff becomes, the more that's expected by the desperate ppl left. And eventually even those ppl will end up leaving before they die. I predict some store closings in the near future, unless the kroji's save the company..
How long before the Krojis disappear? I mean hiring that ad company couldn't have been cheap.
Few days maybe. Kind of like the "Feed the Spirit" campaign that clearly was a huge success.. You know a company is in trouble when they start distracting ppl from the substantial issues with superficial nonsense. It's like putting a band aid on skin cancer..
Not sure - but they lost 4 one week and the last 3 a few days ago (I think they walked out). I don't think it's hard to guess - in general - Kroger is piling up more work, less appreciation (verbal and monetary, with OT cuts) It's really been a process of ruining the companies reputation. Kroger must know their turn over super high and is due in a huge part to how they treat ppl - along with sadly some union activity that protects to many bad workers - which ends up putting to much work on non salary ppl -(I know some SMs who work6-7 days a week..super long hours..) At some point your rep about the work atmosphere is so wrecked you can't find GOOD ppl to hire (especially in a great economy) and end up with a skeleton crew of crack heads
they lost too many hardworking, good leaders. Those who cared, they screwed over.
should be better now that the Zane Train and Rod Sherer departed, but they left a HUGE mess for the next to dig out.
Kroger USED TO BE a good place to be.
Publix will run Nashville soon enough.
Yup - they fired a lot of the high paid talent (Store Mangers) because I guess they were to high paid and wanted to save money? (That's not how you do things - but Rodney over promised share holds money, money, money so they slashed everywhere) Now they expect the newbies to deliver the same quality for half the salary I guess.
This area is cannibalizing itself. Cut , Cut, Cut - but we expect more, more, more - leads to less, less, less good workers because of the worse, worse, worse atmosphere for employees who are over worked, with less OT due to being short staffed because - go to start and repeat.

I agree about Publix UNLESS they mimic kroger - here in Nashville they look good - company wide.. it's getting worse I'm hearing. As for zane and rod - when I was a SM there I never had issues with them. I've heard the stories though..
"should be better now that the Zane Train and Rod Sherer departed, but they left a HUGE mess for the next to dig out."
Did you forget about Jules? Rod and Zane are not the only one's who cultivated the mess that is Kroger Nashville - and I'd guess to some extent they were carrying out the marching orders of those above them who are making a mess in general.
I work in the Cincinnati Dayton KMA. Sounds like the same. I actually feel really bad for mgmt. I know of two store managers that I worked for that were given their pink slips. Both good people and hard workers. I spoke to the union steward at my store about the company abusing employees. They said they wished something could be done about it. I haven't actually spoke to a person from the union about it. I work third shift so I don't even know why they are. I can't blame mgmt. for it though. It goes way higher up. they are just trying to keep their jobs right now. At least I'm not going to get let go. Maybe bumped down god willing lol.

Eventually it will be way, way down Tim in so many ways.. Your right though - managers get their marching orders from the DM and he gets them from the VP's etc etc.. and they all want scapegoats, which is why managers in the stores keep getting fired. Vp do DM "Your not meeting the expectations" (not doable typically) DM to SM "Your not meeting the expectations" SM to ASM/Dept Heads - "Your not meeting..the expectations"... SM to DM - "We don't have enough ppl - 2 ppl died yesterday and..3 more are in the hospital so.." DM to SM "That's no excuse!!!" SM "I'm working 9 days a week and.." DM to SM - "It's not enough, YOUR failing!" Disciplinary action is coming!!" In the end though Rodney either doesn't care or is being told lies by those to fearful to tell him the truth..
Most store managers, ASM's, Pickup supervisors, etc, are just as burnt out as the rest of us. They aren't the enemy here, as most of us know. They just don't know how to make things better either at this point.

I know this for sure. I personally know one that is trying very hard..but it's like someone saying "Here - an entire kit to built a house!" "Where are the tools?" "If you need tools, you are not the person for this job!" "There are no tools needed to meet our expectation of building this house in a timely manner - like 2-3 hours at the most!"
Also when that person was a store manager she ran store 880 into the ground. Then she got stepped down and put on Special Assignment. So yes, what a great example to be a district manager.

we welcome you publix!
Um - they have a few ppl they put back into stores (coordinators/HR ppl) who previously ran stores into the ground I've heard... I'm happy to see them back in the stores that they once did nothing but got paid to criticize to their DM while telling SM they had no excuses - now they are the ones being told the same..
We can all hope the one they have now at #527 fails BIG TIME
karma comes around
I don't hope she gets fired.. but I do think it's good for those who did nothing but complain about SMs and store conditions, while offering little help are now on the receiving end from the DM and coordinators... Nevertheless none of the Nashville stores in her district are running great..including hers..
she has no idea how to treat people so it wont be long until she falls on her face. Couldnt even walk down aisles at noon the other day, pallets everywhere and blocking meat with more pallets.

She is the first person they should fire, they fact she has made it this long is impressive. Must be nice to have Jules protection...hopefully it wont last long.

He does show corrupt favoritism - it wont last forever - he will over play his hand because of the security he thinks he has - that he is untouchable.. I have a feeling sooner then he thinks..

shay is awful so welcome karma..welcome.
And her DM lies all the time. He claims all his stores are running well lol.. I guess vs, some grocery stores in bombed out Syria maybe. Managers dont like working for him because of his mouth and back stabbing and then he wonders why hey dont confide in him.. They have zero faith in him.
Well, well, well - They are finally admitting the staffing issues in the Nashville division that they (The lying DM) have been lying about constantly and blaming the poor standards exclusively on their store mangers and over worked associates. So get ready for some bonus checks to some associates and a slight pay increase -BUT... your going to be expected to earn that with your very soul..
JS keeps getting bad reports on him - I believe his time as a DM is limited. They won't terminate him - unless he murders someone, but they could move him away from ppl to a desk and computer somewhere. To be fair, he also has a monster on his back.. He also has ppl to answer to, who don't care about any valid excuses - like staffing issues, poor work environment- "Just get it done, it's your fault".
