If you want me to work on a certain day, then schedule me
Permalink

There's nothing I hate more than being asked to work on a day when I wasn't scheduled. I wouldn't mind working that day if I am scheduled, but when my manager asks me if I want to work the next day I'm usually tired, in pain and sick of customers. My body is screaming "no more!" So I usually say no. Then she gets mad and cuts my hours on the next schedule because I'm not "a team player." She even told me once right before she asked me "this is a test, to see if choose the right answer." Listen lady, you need to stop your weird mind games and power trip and just put me on the schedule if you want me to work that day so badly.

That used to happen to me all the time too.  I finally had to put my foot down and start saying no.  I don't mind filling in if an emergency comes up and someone can't make it in but don't ask me to come in just so there's an extra person to help out.  If your manager cuts your hours to a point where people with less seniority are getting more hours than you, then you can file a grievance.

You can file a retaliation ethics against her. I'd probably declare it discrimination. You can file anonymously.

I did it with my stores book keeper when they kept bi-tc-hi-ng about this and that and I was doing my job right and they kept trying to create a paper trail against me immorally. One of the three (we couldn't figure out who) was making it look like I wasn't doing my job right when in fact they were all lies and one of them was trying to get me fired because I was their b-i-t-ch basically. They were basically a bully to took it a step too far. They figured out who and were told to stop it for fear of a lawsuit that could unfold. This also created a ton of unnecessary stress and just added to my anxiety and I declared mental anguish against the company for the bully.

I filed a few against our fes for behavioral attitudes that made it difficult to work with them that was uncalled for unprofessionally. Medical and home issues you leave that garbage at the door and act according to the rules of the company. If you can't work then take time off until you can at least return at an optimal performance. After a few investigations he improved his work ethic. They told him get his act together or else. Took a while but the tension he was dishing out on the staff finally lifted after they had a talking to him about it. He was basically being an a-s-s hole b-i-tch for no apparent reason and it was getting unpleasant working with him.

It can be like that.  They test the union contract when there is one.  They test state and federal law.  We need to get better jobs.

Used to do that to me, too a lot. I always agreed to work too. But now I decline almost every time.

Worse is they always waited until the last minute too. Last time, they called and woke me up on my day off and asked if I could come in to work in 2 hours. Really? You just now realized you need another body? Nah. Sorry. Busy today.

They would do other stupid sheet too like call me and ask if I can come in 30 minutes early. I mean, really? 30 minutes is going to make or break something?! I have also had them ask me countless times if I can come in early, and "be there" within the next 30 minutes, like i'm just sitting around with my dayum Kroger uniform on waiting for them to call me. No.
