A smile is NOT "part of my uniform!"

What I told my one of my FES recently:

I  had to smile so much at my last job I thought my face was going to crack.

My uniform is from the neck down.

My smile belongs to my face.

**********

Anyone else get this BS from their FES?

Just say a uniform is to be provided by the company, if you want a smile, free lunch, dinner and a raise will do it.

The motto is now "Fresh for everyone".

"Fresh and friendly" is over.

Merely fresh is good enough, and you don't even have to be that fresh.

Yeah, i'm still pissed about being told to smile. And I had a customer recently tell me, "Try smiling sometime." Smartass. Pissed me right off.

An associate and a store manager told me a while back to smile and I said, "I smile when i'm happy." Obviously, if i'm not smiling, i'm not happy. Im allowed to have any emotion I want, and to express that emotion with my face. I'm human, idiots!

A customer asked me "don't you ever smile?" As I was leaving the store. I responded politely, "I do smile...when I am happy." They then said "smile." I asked "why?" And left.

Next day at work I was called into the office and coached on how 'smiling makes a world of difference.'

I know that customer got mad and complained. But I speak the truth. I ONLY smile when I WANT to...and IF I FEEL like it.

I smile when Im in a good mood and feel like it. Im not gonna smile if some dumb customer demands it, that doesnt make me happy or in a good mood. I might mile more if I get paid more to.
