I just started GM in the Cincinnati area. My lead initially told me that load comes in two days a week. However, that is not the case. We ( just the two of us) are getting load everyday and the things that do come in we already have them on backstock or the shelf is full with it. Drug GM people how often does your load come in and how many people are in your GM department?
I don't work in GM. We are a 1M+ store. We have one person overnight and about 6 people on days for GM/Hbc/Home department. I think the night person is assigned the HBC area. How much in sales does your store do?
How good are you at math?
Ask to learn how to use the telxon so you can scan backstock.
Check BOH, Allocation and Min. Set accordingly. Search this site for a few suggestions on using telxon functions. Or, ask questions.
We get 4 Peyton trucks and 6 Grocery trucks each week. Random candy distros and GM gets another pallet of totes with the supply order. Peyton trucks are normally 1 1/2 pallets of blue totes and about two pallets of small gm items. The grocery truck is diapers, baby water, HMS storage containers, soft soap, and firelogs.
It helps to fix Balance On Hand, Allocations and Minimums. Once you understand those attributes, then you can help edit orders and take stuff off that you don't need. CAO likes to over forecast. And, sometimes will do crazy forecasts.
It gets easier after a while. Kind of like whack a mole.
Drug GM isnt hard at all just like the post above said keep BOH accurate. Now, I work at a small store and its stressful. Its stressful because of the theft is ridiculous. The conditioning I do is useless because the thieves knock over everything.
