It is by about a dollar or two an hour. I needed to get away from the stress of the bakery, and i'm topped out so i won't be losing out on much.

Yeah bakery is a very stressful department. I transferred over to florals about a year ago after three years in bakery and have been a lot happier!

I have been a bagger since I grad high school in 1990. I can retire in 10 years. I like pushing carts and doing carry outs.

You started on a Sunday? Uh oh.

Hope your store isn't like mine. We did 200+ orders today. Maxed out several pick-up slots.

It. Was. Hell.

Like every Sunday...

How hard is it to transfer? I am unhappy in the deli and I've dreamed of transferring for years. I think I would be happier in another department.

It was easier for me because I knew of an opening in another store, and the supervisor was willing to give me a chance.

It wasn't too terrible for a Sunday, we were done picking by like 4:30, but then got slammed in the backroom with everyone coming to pick up at once. Last I knew we were at 125 but i don't know how many more same days came in after that. We can get up to 14 an hour here.

Happy for you. You are lucky, I wish I could transfer but due to physical limits theres no other department I can work in. I plan to get out somehow anyway.

Same day cut-off is 4:00PM. At least in my division.

The sooner everything gets picked/staged, the better. I know I know, the "official" rule is you're not supposed to be picking more than three hours ahead for freshness but with same day orders and scheduling/hiring issues nobody has time for that. The sooner everything is done the more bodies you can have in the back to take out orders when a rush hits.

Max of 14 per hour sounds bad but it's still better than 20 per hour. That's... not fun.

Stock the shelves and we won't have to annoy you.

Bakery person here.  Items that have to be made in the store should not be on Clicklist.  We frequently get Clicklist people asking for stuff early in the morning before it's out of the oven and cool.   We need to know ahead of time if somebody wants a particular item so we can plan ahead.

Hopefully you have a good Pickup team. My stores crew are terrible and lazy.

I don't disagree. I would say at the very least put time restrictions on certain items that aren't available early in the morning but why even bother since customers will just ignore the time restrictions anyway (like ordering a hot rotisserie chicken for 8:00 AM pick up. REALLY!?).

The system in general is just stupid and will never function as intended; especially with how terrible Kroger manages/staffs its stores.

Congrats. I think the pay is about equal. Though every contract is different. You'll be moved to the grocery index so you're not just restricted to deli work.

Not his problem anymore. It's someone else's.

Bakery can be VERY stressful. Short orders, lazy bakery co-workers, not enough help, shortened hours, crazy expectations etc. I've worked bakery before...and yes you CAN and WILL get in trouble for not pulling the weight and picking up the slack of a lazy bakery co-worker.

Most of those things apply in ClickList too, lol. Lazy co-workers that don't bother even picking 300 items per 8 hour shift? Check. Crazy expectations such as having a 97% pick accuracy average for the day meaning you BETTER find almost every item the customer orders (so if it's a hole on the shelf, GET LOOKING!) AND do it while maintaining a 40 seconds or less pick time? Check. Shortened hours... sure feels like it when 1/3 of the dept if not more isn't pulling its weight and the store has lots of holes in every department.

Pretty sure a similar argument can be made for basically any department at Kroger. If you try to do a good job and work hard you're gonna have stress because some of your co-workers will take advantage of it and work less hard while your department head/back-up will work you harder to pick up the slack of others.
