Wow...just wow. Today is a whole new level of customer hysteria. We've been getting shopped hard since the virus hit this country. I knew it would be bad after all the announcements last night (B-ball, colleges, etc.) but this is just something else. People are taking things out of our hands before we can even get them on the shelves. I wouldn't be surprised if (as more cases pop up) people start trying to rob the delivery trucks.

This stuff is being encouraged by the Super-Hype of the TV evening news. On CBS, a few minutes ago, Norah O'Donnell (the Anchor) said at the beginning of the news show "The United States is now shut down".  She should be sued for inciting increasing panic among the susceptible public who get hysterical easily.  Disgusting.

That's why I quit watching any national newscast.  They are so Liberal, they don't even try to hide it.  Their hatred of Donald Trump is over the top.  He could cure cancer, give everyone free health care, and a million dollars a piece and the Liberals would still have something to complain about.

The fact that your dummy president is not getting tested is stupid considering he shook hands with someone that has it. And hes trying to prevent us from having the tests available. **** him.

Forget that! No. What he SHOULD do is guarantee paid sick leave for all of us who have to be on the front lines in the middle of this and have to worry about our jobs or our health and the families we're trying to protect...Other countries, for example, have gotten ahead of the curve on the testing, at least...And what about us??? Our President??? Our Congress??? When are ALL of them gonna take this thing seriously???

I say they need to get a plan in place...and FAST! The time for talk is OVER!!! The time for plans is NOW!!!

Oh and by the way...This is how you know it's bad...

1. We had a guy doing a Clicklist order and grabbed a package of paper towels to put in the shopping bag for a Clicklist customer...Some other guy comes along and snatches the paper towels right out of the bag and runs off with them!

2. One customer told me there were no carts left at Costco in the corral area and after people bought up all the cleaning essentials, it looked like a tornado hit the place...

3. They had to shut down Clicklist at one point yesterday because there were so many orders and only two people to fill them...They were totally overwhelmed!

His response has been fine. Not perfect, but no one is. The media is the one hyping this and causing the market to crash. That's what they want.

Not the government's job to guarantee paid sick leave.

Yea probably means shut down for traveling from wherever to here. There is reason to be concerned. People who buy this stuff up just limits them from leaving the house a lot less. Get your head outta your ass.

Our area also had storms sweep through. And of course we had the ones who panic over that along with the ones panicking over the virus. People were asking if we had anymore of this or that and of course no we didn't. It felt like we were fighting a battle instead of just doing the job. And as for the news media, local or national, I'm not even watching anything on TV nor reading any news publications printed or online since it's going to be all about the virus and the panic.

Trump is supposed to make an announcement today declaring a national emergency. That will just make people freak out even more. There should be signs up telling people they won't be able to return products. In the past, we've had storm warnings and people mass buy water. After the event, people want to try and return all that water. We already had too much in back because corporate auto shipped us more than we needed. Our store manager started telling people no returns on water. Told them to save it for the next storm.

Trump had a news conference starting around 3:30 Eastern time Friday afternoon. It actually went very well, with lots of rational,  common sense advice, and he seemed quite composed and straightforward.  There were a lot of "big shots" with him including the CEOs of Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, and medical field experts, doctors and other government officials. Actually, it was not "frightening" in the least. The stock market started shooting up, and ended nearly 2000 points higher than yesterday.

The mainstream news WILL try to put a negative spin on this press meeting if they can, though, so be expecting that.

Funny, no Kroger CEO was there. (Where were you, Rodney??)

Good question.

I was listening to a news podcast trying to explain it.  People are panicking about being quarantined.  They see others buying and see shelves empty, they get even more fearful and buy more than needed.

Ask yourself:

What did previous generations use before toilet paper?  Newspaper/magazines.  Before newspapers? Corn husks.  Before corn husks?  Leaves(?).  What did they use in Rome?  A community sponge that everyone shared and kept returning to the yucky bucket of water that might have been changed daily.

http://www.wondersandmarvels.com/2009/08/what-the-romans-used-for-toilet-paper.html

I read somewhere that a it is custom for a certain modern ethnicity to not shake hands because they use their hands to wipe without toilet paper.  I am sure most civilized people appreciate modern toilet paper.

If it was the apocalypse, it would happen before people are aware of it.  It will be the entire world at once not a continent at a time.  Definitely a good time to "make peace with your God."

People will die because they are unable to live a simple life without all the stuff we take for granted.

So true. At my store we are out of TP, Hand Sanitizer, Rubbing Alchohol, Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera Jell. I guess people found out you can make your own hand sanitizer with rubbing alcohol, aloe vera, jell, and Tea-tree oil.
People acting a FOOL because the media overplays this whole thing. Yes, it's a serious virus, and yes you CAN DIE from it just like you can die from SARS, Flu, Noro-Virus etc. HOWEVER... it IS preventable. Wash your hands after using the restroom, use seat covers when going potty, cover your mouth and nose when you cough and sneeze, and just practice good hygene.

I was in Kroger shopping this morning at 8:30 am. I was lucky to get toilet paper. Not stockpiling I really needed it only bought 1 pack. Anyway the store was a madhouse at 8:30 am it looked like 2 PM on Saturday. Registers backed up I was told click list worked overnight to fill orders and they also shut down early the day before. Just crazy I am just lucky no one snatched my toilet paper or should I say they were lucky they didn't.

In our store we are completely out of water and toilet paper and produce is getting quite thin. A customer on Friday told me she was at another Kroger where two women got into a fight over some toilet paper (!)

I hate this company so very very much. I work for the reset company that does the resets, and stupid Kroger execs called my company and basically said they do not want us there "because there isn't any product on the shelves anyway so they don't need us" was basically their excuse. But I know the truth, the truth is they don't want us in the way, and customers, being the jerks they are have complained.

So after a long conference call, they came up with the brilliant solution of having us do "store support" so basically were going to be Kroger employees for the foreseeable future. I told my boss I would try it, but the first time they were ****ty to me, I'm gone.

They definitely need help stocking shelves.  It is just like resetting but much higher volume.  It's not that glamorous or for everyone but it is better than sitting at home fretting about the world ending.

Things are pretty bad. I saw one customer try and snatch another customer's TP outing his cart. Long story short the one that tried to snatch the TP had to worry more about his bloody nose after the customer that had the TP punched him.

Oh look guys the bottom of the totem pole associate is a infectious disease expert is here to educate us! How is any of that gonna help when some one might be infected and they or you don't know it? Symptoms don't show for some days. So what you think this virus is a bathroom dweller? it can live on anything some one infected touches. only FOOL is you. stick to getting carts and picking your nose.

She said she had to laugh at the sight of people scattering in all directions like that, but at the same time, Is THAT what this has come to??? no
