Is it wrong of me to wish every Kroger employee of every level in every store would have to self quarantine at the same time? I don't want anyone to die. I just have this fantasy about Kroger Corporate having to deal with this and long lines of customers outside closed stores.
That would lead to anarchy. The public would loot the stores one way or another. The National Guard would need to act as security.
I don't see how anyone can avoid covid19 in any grocery store. 2000 people entering our store daily. It would make sense if every man, woman and child stayed home for two weeks. Let the virus run its course in the people already infected. Only Fire, Police, Medical, Military and ambulances allowed out of the house. Just not possible. People need toilet paper to live. err, I mean food. Rent and bills is another can of worms.
These are extraordinary events that need to be dealt with by unordinary means.
They are now saying the virus can spread on our breath(breath vapor, not sure if there is a difference). How crazy is that? Is everyone supposed to stop breathing?
Well, Walmart has just said that they will only allow 5 people in their stores for every 1,000 square feet of space...They will let a certain number of people in until they reach that number based on the square footage of that particular store...Then, it will be 1 person let in for every 1 person let out...
Meijer stores here in Michigan will be taking every employee's temperature before they walk through the door and if they have any of the symptoms of COVID-19, they will need to stay home for the 14-day quarantine period...
It's NOT mandatory, but more people including the President are advising using NON-MEDICAL face masks...Maybe they won't protect us, but if we have any symptoms at all, it'll protect everyone else from us, including some of the most vulnerable customers...
Fines are also being enacted in places to discourage group gatherings and encourage social distancing...Some people might be made examples of for their blatant disregard for the rules...
There seem to be new rules and changes every single day and I'm sure there will be more to come!
People are getting serious about all of this, so it will be interesting to see how Kroger might change when the competition changes...
By the way, most Walmarts are about 180,000 square feet in size...If 5 people can be let in for every 1,000 square feet and 10 people for every 2,000 square feet, then I figure 9 people can be let in for every 1,800 square feet, 90 people for every 18,000 square feet, then, 900 people for every 180,000 square feet...I think my math is right on that...
Still, the key will be enforcing this stuff...We'll see!
Of course, local governments may have to step in where companies fail on this, especially if those local governments are serious about social distancing...Probably more fines than arrests, but it's hard to say yet...
