Do all produce tables in your Kroger store get "oiled" every so often, (to make them look shinier) usually when doing resets, especially the front display tables? Just wondered if they do that at all stores. Personally, I think they WAY over-do it at my store. Sometimes leaving so much oil it looks like someone was greasing a skillet in order to fry their eggs on the table for breakfast.
I also suspect the oil ("food grade oil") helps attract insects, at least in the summer months. I've not seen this discussed on this forum. I'd love to hear more imput.
Yeah, I've wondered that, too...Sure, it shines them up for when a walkthrough is imminent, but our tables are so old, I don't think it really makes much of an effect...Plus, we haven't had a REAL walkthrough in a while...The only real way to fix the tables would be to re-stain all the wood or fix any broken areas...Plus, the same people who would worry about those tables are the same people who would wonder why we're out of stock on so many items...Well, seeing what has been CLEARLY EVIDENT the last few weeks, no one seems to be wondering about ANY of it lately, at least in my neck of the woods...There's really no way you cannot prevent your store from looking like a disaster area right now with all the hoarding going on, the short supplies we're being given (I don't even remember the last time I saw rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, sanitizing wipes or hand sanitizer on the shelves for purchase! And don't get me started on the other cleaning products, toilet paper and paper towels!), and the shortage of help, due to people either on vacation, out sick or on medical leave (which is actively encouraged more than it's ever been or I've ever seen it)...And there are plenty of other items that have been decimated, as well, due to people stocking up their pantries, fridges, freezers and kitchens with all the essentials and buying enough to last them a few weeks...
We used to have some of the baggers, known as "utility clerks" go around and oil them up, but it seems like everything has taken a backseat to making sure we're keeping everything filled as much as possible...Sure, I've been personally cleaning and disinfecting the tables as I go about my day, but more for health reasons and not just for show...Making sure the department looks good (aka the fixtures) IS important, but a well-oiled table is not necessarily a germ-free table...Just sayin'...
On walk-thrus we oil our produce bins with baby oil and on our black scuffed areas of the store, we use black shoe polish as a fill to make it look nicer
