I forget when it changed but long time employees get dbl time and a half. Contract changed and people hired after some year no longer get that.

Well, for one thing, double time and a half is simply double time. With time and a half, if you work 8 hours, you get paid for 12. The extra 4 hours is your half time. If you double that, you get 8 hours. Eight hours overtime plus eight hours regular pay is 16 hours, or double time. The second thing is the person you talked to may only have knowledge of his situation. With contracts changing every three to four years, everyone is under different holiday provisions. For example, I get 8 hours holiday pay in addition to my regular pay. If I work over 32 hours, I get overtime. People hired after 2012 still get the holiday pay but overtime doesn't kick until they work over 40 hours. In other words, it's like a regular week with extra pay added on. People who were hired before 1987 get holiday pay. They get time and a half if they work on the actual holiday. They also get time and a half if their hours for the week not including Sunday or the holiday are more than 32.
