I've never seen hours this badly cut in stores. 6 days for 36 hrs wtf? You gotta earn a living but good lord. I've been doing this gig 12+ years and even at a store where I've never had an issue getting hours now I gotta do 6 days just to earn a livable paycheck. Wtf?
Kroger banked a million or more from March-Jun and now they're acting like they're totally broke. Good lord. A rich person does not enter heaven. But they'll trample the little people in the process to get there. As one lost in money I realized if you want to not be in the impoverished state you need to set emotion aside and do what you need to for the paycheck but after the 2008 depression I ended up here. Good fu-ck I'd be better off doing what I use to do.
You know why, don't you? It's to make up for all that hero pay and thank you pay they so graciously gave us. Louisville stores and to smaller extent Kentucky stores also lost a great deal of revenue from the cancellation of the Kentucky Derby. Yes, I know it was just postponed, but it's not going to be the same.

Sorry, I do not believe that at all. Louisville stores might have lost some business because of Derby Day and Thunder Over Louisville being cancelled BUT they MORE than made up for it because of everybody buying TONS of EVERYTHING as fast as we could put it on the shelves. All that hoarding caused all the stores to increase in sales. Sales increased MORE than if we had had Derby but not had the Coronavirus.
Hours being cut even more is just the sign of a corrupt company. And we had a walk through recently with the President looking around, giving lots of advice. As if we had all the hours in the world to get what she wanted done. Yeah, right!!! It ain't gonna happen.
Yep, we were made to take 200 hours out of our pickup department schedule, when we are still hitting 200 orders a day some days... we have the biggest dollar amount for orders in my district but they don't care.

The thing about hoarding is you can only use so much toilet paper. I can buy six month's worth all at once and not buy any for the next six months or I can buy it one package at a time as I need it but I'm still only going to use so much of it. When it comes to holidays and special events, people buy extra on top of what they normally buy. Nearly every department has an increase in sales during Derby week because of all the parties.

Yes, that's true. But remember a LOT of people were hoarding all kinds of other things besides toilet paper, including meats (for their big freezers), tons of canned goods like green beans, peas, corn, kidney beans, etc, and rice, dry beans, flour, sugar, also macaroni and other pasta. It was just about EVERYTHING........... and many of the customers' pantries and cupboards, I am sure, are still stocked with lots of items bought over the last 3 months. Bottom line is that Kroger made huge amounts of money during the first three months of the pandemic.
It is here now. My department may not be in compliance with the union contract because a couple of hours short of minimum per week in July. Wondering about the rest of that month. Some extra days off will be nice but wondering why I keep working for this horrible company, for a lot of reasons. Testing to see what they can get away with all the time, trying out new schemes, train as you go by whoever feels like it while jammed up with work. Business has been slow so maybe this would be a good time to exit. Hoping people decide to shop with decent little companies and starve and prosecute this particular giant problem out of existence. Maybe I have contributed enough. Ashamed of myself.

That's exactly it plus whatever they're throwing at BLM. our front end lost over 100 hours a week and they'll expect us to make quevision while still exceeding forecasts that blow last years sales out of the water
I just schedule over to make the department work as it should per my store manager. If the want to change my schedule so be it, just don't come bitching to me when my department looks like **** with a delivery untouched in the cooler and I'm leaving at 1pm...

To add on: I don't know about you but due to the severe reduction in hours I'm saying fu-ck it to the extra cleaning because we don't have the time for it. I clean and customer bit-ch about how things are sticky wet. No fu-ck.
That isn't all. The paper schedules left in the break room here are the official schedule that you are officially to follow. The on line version is convenient (especially if you want your computer hacked) and your department has another version with assigned breaks and a ton of scribbled details for communication.
The break room schedules have not appeared for the week that my hours are cut down to maybe not in compliance with the union contract. Curious about everyone else's hours.
We are a little beaten down by this evil company and the union seems to be on paid leave until the vivid 19 thing is over.
