I found a 24 pack of beer outside when I was doing my carts. I looked around and saw no one. The case was unopened and I had about 10 min left of my shift and it was in a shopping cart (not ours) so I wheeled the cart and hid it in the back as I had plans of grabbing that case when I got off. 10 min goes by and I am heading to the hiding spot only to see parking lot security in the process of opening up the case and pour Each. And. Every. Bottle. Out. He looked st me and said "Its ok, I got this." There was not a thing I could do about it.
He then said someone must have hidden it away thinking that they would be able to come back later but now when they come back, all theyll see is an empty case in the dumpster along with the cans. Should I have just placed it in my car? Again, the cart wasnt ours so I should have been ok.

You should have reported that security guy. you should have said he stole it but when you caught him trying to load it in he was dumping out playing it off like he did something good. And yeah next time put it in your car.
I would have done the same thing by placing it in my car. Even if you turned it in, it cant be resold, and would have been emptied out anyway. So no real loss.
Customer forgot to load this. If you pick this up and put it inside your car it is called theift. You can be fired for this. Two options be lazy and leave it ouside well a minor could get it and then the store could be at fault for negligence. Or b be responsible and take it inside and put it back on the shelf. Though with the virus technically it is to be tossed.
To add on to my above comment: I've seen several coworkers fired for item theft. You think you can get away with it but karma will catch up to you. Don't be stupid and continue to steal from the same store. X-coworker of mine did that and loss prevention knows exactly who he is and they can file theft charges against you. If you have nothing you can do jail time and a misdemeanor will appear on your record.

I feel like chug chugging before I slug slug someone. It's been insane at work. The good thing is, I'm off tomorrow so my phone is not being answered (except for friends and family) coz I'm gonna have quite a few drinks and maybe have a blunt or two.
