Its kinda the "new normal", why are any companies paying any "bonuses" now. I can understand the company offering paid time off if diagnosed, but the bonuses before were more justified because the increase sales/workload with limited staffing.

Because people are still working with the risk of catching this thats why and they should be paying a little something.

True, but how is paying someone more going to change the risk? Don't customers take the risk when they enter the store to shop? Don't I take a risk when I leave my house and go anywhere? Do office workers get paid a COVID bonus, because they are told they have to report to the office and use the public spaces and walk by others? Should Nurses, Teachers, Bus Drivers, Police Officers, Fire Fighters also be paid a bonus? Should restaurant servers also have a COVID Bonus?
I'm not saying a risk doesn't exist, but how is $2.00 more an hour changing the risk? If you believe the risk is too high, there are always other jobs. COVID is here, everyone has to get used to the new normal, until their is an another new normal.

Wow. Maybe $2 an hour will help him. Heres a thought. If Kroger does give us a little bonus or a dollar or two an hour will you cut me a check for that amount? Since its not much to you, give it to someone else.

This hasn't changed. I've heard Local 1996 has seen over 150 positives in the past couple weeks. We're dealing with no change, cash back limits, now being the mask police and hours keep getting cut. There's probably not a person in my store who wouldn't quit if they could afford to we're all so stressed out from the unit manager on down. In fact, stores do seem to be losing workers. Hell, Target's starting at $15/hour.
Kroger doesn't care about the hostile customers, doesn't care about their health or our health.

The BIGGEST problem is that shoppers are not educated on what they are complaining about. They see Facebook posts and or others comments as hard facts, instead of looking for scientific or official statement/finding. How many individuals/celebs have said COVID is a scam, don't wear a mask, to only change their story when they or a family member gets it?
You know wearing a mask is now "patriotic". If our countries Leadership would stop being political will everything, listened to hard facts, not add their options that contradicted scientists, COVID would be under control now. A Local with any number of members is going to have COVID positive people, its all about numbers. In reality, if a Local has 15K members, 150 positives in a few weeks isn't an extreme number. Also, since people have lives outside the stores, it cant be said all positives are because of working in the stores.

Customers can minimize their risk by opting for ClickList/home delivery. They have a choice. Especially ClickList as there is no fee right now (and there hasn't been since sometime back in March).
You have a choice whether or not to leave your house and go somewhere depending on importance.
People that work with the public? What's their choice...? Quit and go homeless/hungry? I don't call that much of a choice especially compared to the options customers and individuals that may or may not need to go somewhere.
People that work with the public, regardless of industry, deserve extra compensation due to the extra risk involved. It doesn't change the risk that much (other than putting more money in more workers' pockets to be able to better afford products/services/a way of life that may help them reduce their risk to the virus - such as having the extra money to put towards grocery curbside/delivery service vs. going into a store and shopping themselves).
So yes, small things like hazard pay/hero pay DO help; both from a physical health standpoint and an emotion one... it's just corporations are too damn greedy and insensitive to care to do it. Walmart, whatever its motives, is at least doing a LITTLE bit more for its employees than Kroger.

Our manager is telling associated getting tested he doesn't know they got tested and is letting them work instead of making them quarantine while waiting on results. How is that right?

I would suggest contacting the Division HR Department and asking what the procedure is. But if they felt they needed to get tested, I would believe they shouldn't be working. Unless you tell the MGMT, they will not know you got tested, you would need to disclose this to them. While the company may offer the test, it would be a HIPPA violation if the RX/Little Clinic or any other Medial Office shared this information with them.

Right cause every person works 40 hours or more a week dealing with possibly hundreds of people a day. And yeah essential workers should get it as well. schools are closed as well. If I believe the risk is too high? When they make it mandatory to wear a mask then they are saying the risk is high.

How many States how have mandatory Mask rules now? I'm not saying there isn't a risk, I'm just saying what is playing $2.00 more an hours going to change (other then your check amount)?

Let 'em think COVID is a scam...I won't be surprised if and when they catch the disease! The Chuck Woolery about face only makes this clearer...The President tweets Chuck's conspiracy theory and then, Chuck says his son now has it and recants that theory...And now, you're seeing the President himself wearing a mask when he disavowed them earlier...I study my history and you all should, too...In 1918, while we were still at war overseas and we were dealing with the Spanish flu here, there was a mask mandate then, too...At first, wearing a mask seemed like the patriotic thing to do, in honor of our boys fighting a war "over there"...But, once the war was over, there was no need to be patriotic anymore, so people stopped wearing the masks...In fact, some cities like San Francisco were so brazen about it that incensed citizens set up an Anti-Mask League to fight governmental control over their lives...Sound familiar??? Back then, masks were made of gauze and weren't very beneficial...Plus, people would keep poking holes in their masks so they could smoke a cigarette, rendering those masks useless...BUT, because of all of that and people getting lax, when a second wave of the flu hit, a lot more people died because they weren't prepared...We have science and technology on our side now...We can't stem the tide of this thing, but it seems painfully obvious that we want to forget our history, which in this case, we are doomed to repeat it! Let's face it...I didn't learn about this little-known chapter of the history books until recently...They didn't teach it to me in school, but I'm finding out about it now and the more I read, the more I see that there are many lessons we can glean from that pandemic and apply to this one...As with SARS and MRSA, people wore masks, too...Those populations were able to get things under control...This genie is gonna be harder to get back into the bottle, so everyone better be prepared to deal with this thing for the long haul and foreseeable future, because I don't see it ending any time soon, at least not until a vaccine is made...And even then, who knows??? I hope Wal-Mart does give out more bonuses...Another stimulus could be coming, too, if the politicians can get it together...Kroger doesn't have to like giving out these bonuses, but other companies may force their hand out of competition and because this thing isn't over yet (and not likely to be this year), they may have to bite the bullet and do the right thing...It's the only fair thing to do!
Kroger won't follow. Our job duties tippled in march and customers are still scolding us for cleaning too much. Then we get the opposite of customers creaming and yelling at us for not cleaning enough or wondering if it's clean at all. I had a lady the other day harass me about the check stand being wet from cleaning. No f-uc-k. I asked her to leave at the end of the order.
You are more correct than you realize. I know people who've had it, who've died from it and I go crazy on people who think it's a fu-cken scam. They need to get up to reality or get the f* away from me. If it weren't real I'd still have these people with me today. So fu-ck off people who think this is fake. Can you bring these people back from the dead for me? No. I thought not.

Laughing a the people who dont take it serious. Look at all the idiots in florida and california who protested, open disney land went to beaches went out on the 4th and now those states have skyrocketed cases. California now taking the number one spot and florida is ready to claim that spot soon. Wonder if those people who got sick really regret going out now.

You know not every one gets over this in 14 days especially people with a pre existing condition. Might take them a little longer to recover and the extra money could help them with rent or food. It's not like they couldnt have afforded it for a couple more months. But you keep supporting that ceo making 12 mil a year.
Rather than giving bonuses,Kroger needs to raise their minimum wage. There's no sense in baggers starting at 7.35 an hour and getting a single 15 cent raise after 5 years.Full time clerks start at 7.50 an hour which is still very low compared to places like Walmart,Target,Costco, etc. We don't want one time bonuses,we want a wage we can live on.
