What do I have to do to get set hours? This November will be my two years with Kroger, in the deli department. I've run myself ragged even before this whole pandemic thing (even my manager has admitted, several times, that she depends on me too much). Not only does she usually have set hours of 5am-1pm (when I though managers were supposed to have at least one night a week, but she hasn't worked a night shift in over a month) but several other workers do. Granted they've been there for several years.
I only ask because I don't have a car and depend on the bus and Uber. But they keep scheduling me for late shifts (even though my seniority is pretty up there, considering how many people have left before me), and I can't afford to Uber an entire week (which is anywhere from $15-$20 a trip, tip included), the weekends were fine. But I can't do an entire week. Especially since, for the past several months my usual shift was 8am-4pm.
Is there anything I can do? I feel like I've put so much work in, but nothing to show for it.

Work yourself to death, bud. Just do more with less. If you wanted a real job, you'd be flipping burgers or something. This is where dream go to die, son.
Have you even thought about what Rodney and the shareholders are going through right now?

What time is the last Bus? If anything tell your Manager your having issues with transportation and UBER is starting to add up when your scheduled late. As a follow up, ask the Manager if she would be ok with you talking to other Department Leaders about looking into transferring departments. When talking with your Manager/Leader make sure they understand your being a team player, and completely willing to take an UBER once a seek, but needing to watch your $$. If she wants to keep you she will either schedule you earlier, schedule you with someone willing to take you home or sit you down and figure it all out. While set scheduled are not something done all the time, its something that is totally able to be done as long as have the seniority and the hours are available. In reality, all Department Leaders should figure out their ELMS hours and for the most part give people set scheduled with some slight fluctuation.
Hard work is not rewarded here. You are paid for two things, showing up and not dying while on the clock.
The only people I have seen get a consistent sched have medical issues to work with. Some areas might be nice, some may never give anyone a consistent sched. I have seen walmart workers go back to walmart over the sched problems.
