Keeping it short.  You all know the drill, Kroger sucks and it sucks worse than ever right now.  Leaving is more tempting than ever, or rather the incentive to keep working is less than ever.  Waves of walkouts have happened.

Clearly for the one week wonders its mostly irrelevant, but for anyone with more time in and no experience bailing on a bad deal, any advice or tips on doing it right.
Not stuff like "Give a two week notice" but stuff like dealing with vested pensions with a no-quit clause, or general eligibility for unemployment in how one gets out.
Not just asking for my own education but because I'm someone who gets asked this by other clerks.  Perhaps it'd address questions others might come here with too.  I have met some at my store that are now reading the Kroger reddit, which is up from none in prior years.

Our local is at best ineffective and at worst actively helping management, or so it seems in my own experience and that of the lifers.

If your over the job, your over the job. If you need to get vested for the pension, I would always suggest lowering your hours to work one shift a week. You get to keep your foot in the door and hopefully stick around until you become vested. I would assume if your not vested and pension would be minimal at best and its not like you would see it for another 30+ years. If your Store sucks, try going to another store, it might not be any better, but it would at least you tried to "make it work" and it wasn't worth it anymore.

I would only say to remember, COVID is dramatically changing retail for now and in the future. Remember to look into a job that will be around for awhile, and pay decent $$. Hell, anyone young and wanting to learn a trade should work and take the educational $$ and use it towards a trade degree. Plumbers, Electricians are always going to be needed and make good $$$

 Just go.
You can find something better.
Even if you're not an unfortunate wage slave AKA courtesy clerk you can still find better.
Ingles pays more for crying out loud.

Document that you worked for the company.  Anyone that needs a company like Kroger to provide a reference you don't need.  Don't bother bad-mouthing Kroger.  No excuses needed, the company reputation should speak for itself.   Maybe ask for a copy of your personnel file, or not.  Not much you can do with a company like this.  Invest in education, always.  If you get hired by a good company remember to invite good workers to join you, but look out!  Kroger is always spying on you, hacking everything like the psycho thug that it is.

Congratulations in advance and best of luck.

WHY would a "vested pension" have a no-quit clause? That is ILLEGAL!
