We'll probably stay open regular hours to take advantage of the fact every other store is closing early. Seriously though, I have heard nothing about Thanksgiving yet.
You can get a clue from work schedules. Otherwise they will let customers and crew know one or two days ahead. Providing reliable information isn't a Kroger thing.
Most Food Retailers are open on Thanksgiving, they just have earlier closing hours. Target and Walmart are eliminating the "Black Friday" hours on Thanksgiving, so will not be open later in the evening. If Walmart was closed completely on Thanksgiving they would def. drive sales to the "normal" grocery stores. Thanksgiving is always dead in the stores, just people running in and getting the items the forgot normally. In areas with a good number of stores, I have never understood why they don't just close the smaller stores and staff a few larger stores on some holidays. Yes, people might need to drive a little farther, but most people would understand and be happy there is just an option being open.
We close early on Thanksgiving but we STILL have workers stay until 7 or 8 (EVEN THOUGH they dont want to) to get the go-backs done, clean the store etc) however last year, management went home at 4pm or so, we closed at 5:30 so after the last customer left, we secured everything and went home. Go-backs waited until the following day.
