Walmart takes a W this time

You guys see this?

Walmart is increasing their wages. Even upwards to $30 an hour. Sounds like good times right there.

Article says they are replacing assistant managers and department managers with new team lead roles. The team leads are the ones getting the higher wages. Will they make them salaried and work them to death or will they be part time so they aren't paying as much as they would have to assistant or department managers. Guess this means Kroger will soon get rid of all of these people too. Time for some more long term people to lose their jobs.

18-21 is still dept head pay in ATL. We have leads & backups that don't even make 18 when topped out

I make $18 as a night stocker. I got lucky. Started as a bagger in 2014 making a measily $7.25. With the new contract, the top out after 2014 ended up being $14 or $15 for anyone newly hired.

Kroger has way too much middle and upper management. Each division has a person in charge of click list? Why?   The program is set let it run. Walmart is finally figuring out it takes real people in the stores to do the work. I wish Kroger would do the same.

WOW What about Department managers who have been there almost 30 years or longer? A Walmart where I live years ago Walmart was in the Mall. Then it moved across the street and then a Supercenter was built. I know the Walmart moved out of the Mall around 1988 or so and one built across the street. I am not sure how long this guy has been a Department Manager. I bet they will just offer him retirement he is Probably in his early to late 50's.

I don't think Walmart has so many districts set up. I asked a friend once he never really gave an answer. The OP posted a link from Augusta Georgia TV Station. I think Walmart has a one of their District offices in that area maybe it is in Evans Georgia.

Below is what I found on Walmart employee forum:

Walmart employee here. Only bakery, deli and automotive techs will be at 15. Department managers and salaried managers are being cut down and they have to compete for these limited $18-$21 positions. Only 165,000 out of 1.5 million are getting raises. And those that do get the raise lose their quarterly bonus.
