Any stores still being told to fill All holes so that the shelves look full. When the item comes in for the holes it gets shoved into another hole.
thats the most dumbest **** to do. If the item is out its out unless its something like paper towels or toilet paper that will sell out in 2 hours thats fine.

It's STUPID. I hate it, because in many cases the price tags (below the item shoved into a "hole" where it does not belong) are different/incorrect and this can cause customers to get angry in the checkout lane if they glanced at the price quickly without realizing it was actually for another item that is currently out of stock.
I have had this happen to me at Walmart before..........to buy something and later realize the price was not for that item because it was in the wrong place. Not a good policy for Kroger to encourage!!!!!
A hole is a hole. Truth is truth. Deal with reality. It merely means that something has been popular or has sold out for some other reason. Most customers would rather know quickly that something is out of stock and accept it, rather than scrutinize price labels and try to figure out if something is missing that should be on that particular shelf.
Kroger corp encouraging this stuff is WRONG WRONG WRONG!!
I think it harder to shop in those area, if I see the tag for an item and the spot empty, I know it OOO. Putting random items in the empty spots just makes me have to look at more items, and not find what I'm looking for. You know putting toilet paper in the canned good aisle to fill the empty spots is genius!!
I wonder if putting something in a spot where it doesn't belong keeps the product that actually goes from being ordered. Yes, CAO is suppose to take care of stuff like that but it only works if the item is on CAO the balances are correct. I've been looking for Kroger Brand honey citrus with shea butter liquid handsoap refill for months now. They have Dial bar soap in its place. I've seen Safeguard liquid handsoap but I can't stand the smell. Why is there even scent in handsoap anyway? I don't want to smell perfume on my hands while I'm eating. The Kroger soap has a scent but it's not perfumey and it quickly goes away.

Kroger doesn't like reality...But alternate reality??? THAT'S a different story!

Actually, it does. Sometimes CAO says something was ordered but it was missing from the truck or was mispicked. Someone is supposed to scan holes daily in each department and zero out the holes. They might not be paying attention and see that the bar soap is filling a hole. I have zeroed out a few items that were missing from previous trucks and they came in on the next order.
Also, I have new people that if they can't find where something goes because the wrong product is in its spot, they hide it on backstock or on the new items cart. I also have 1 year employees that forget that they couldn't find the product and throw stuff on backstock when putting backstock away.
I often wonder if our secret mission statement is: "Take something so simple and make it as complicated as possible."
We had this phenomenon at Walmart, and it s ucked for the same reasons. What yall call conditioning, they call zoning. Same thing. And this biz of filling holes (WM called it 'faking it out'), they called that plugging----and it was a no-no for all the listed reasons.
The reason monster corporations like WM and Kroger persist in this, even tho it pisses off their customers? Because they know they can. People are brain washed sheep completely conditioned to keep shopping at all retail outlets.
