Today as I was doing carts, I happened upon a wallet left in the parking lot. I checked inside for ID and all there was $580.00 cash plus an expired credit card from 2019; no other identification whatsoever. So I kept thr $580.00 cash and tossed out thr expired credit card. You cant use it for anything anyways. I made sure that no one was watching me. If I would have turned it in, Kroger would have kept the cash and disposed of the credit card. So what's the big deal if I do the same thing.

Let's see. There's the cameras watching. Eyewitnesses that were watching you when you didn't notice. And the actual owner of the wallet, and therefore the money, could come by your store. Yep, you shouldn't have any problems.
Thank you for TURNING IN the wallet with the cash inside. Now that you have TURNed IT IN, your mind is cleaner and you feel better about yourself and that IS REWARD ENOUGH.
But we know you're going to keep it. But here us some advice: that $580.00 will NOT cover you for long while you look for a new job. After kroger suspends you indefinately, you may NOT even be able to get a new job. Have fun.

F**k yea, don't listen to those dribbling idiots. Also, don't take this the wrong way, but I mean....c'mon. Courtesy clerk? That's not down there with scraping $hit out of elephants or being a 19th century circus geek, but it's pretty down there. You guys are out there busting your asses for NOTHING, and in all manner of weather.
Cameras? Witnesses? Yea right. I've seen Kroger's 'security' cams, they're a joke. Don't tell anybody outside of this forum, you'll be just fine.
Now go treat yourself to something fun. You've earned it

Just think of the guy that will not be able to pay rent, pay is cellphone bill or have food to eat. The gentleman might have kids and that was their daycare $$. I hope the gentleman comes back and you see who you may have caused a complete serious hardship.

Should have took better caution carrying that much money around.
If this happens you have no reason to tell anyone. I know the cops will say "talk to the company about it", all innocent like. To them I would say - YOU guide the company through the process of trying to identify the owner and don't use my name.

somebody with some sense, Cant believe y'all are still goin on about this, u dumb enough to lose your $ Ima be smart enough to take it lol
The simple fact that OP KNOWINGLY kept that large amount of money from the wallet just shows what kind of person he is. And perhaps he didnt know, someone is ALWAYS watching.
At my store management or corporate will do occasional set ups without warning. They will get hold of an old wallet and put some cash inside and plant it in the store where employees will see it. This wallet had no ID if any kind. Just cash. They will sit and see if an employee picks it up and turns it in or keeps the cash. Office personnel knows ahead of time.
If the employee turns it in, they are called to the office, congratulated and thanked for their honesty, and that's that. Those that keep the cash seek other employment elsewhere (minus the cash of course)

No some one is not always watching. Ive stolen a few things from Kroger and Im still there and this happened over 2 years ago. Kroger security is like Walmarts a total joke. And with Krogers low, cutting hours, @sshole managers and generally over working people most wouldnt care if they got canned. But trust me Im keeping that money.
give it to the police. It's the law in some states
OP didnt even turn in the money to the store...why would he turn it into the police?
Look I found this money and got away with it. Not turning it in gonna spend this on me. You guys should be happy for a fellow associate. Youll have your day too.

I once found a trail of cash through my store. It was twenties and even a coupla hundreds. I collected it all up, fully assuming it was a management sting operation, and took it back to the mgmt office. A stupid bitch manager had accidentally dropped it----and didn't even thank me for bringing it to her, just 'oh, Ida missed that'.
I said 'you're welcome, and if this ever happens again, I'm keeping it!' Sometimes people get fcked just by being rude.
