Here is why I feel the coin shortage isn't what Kroger is saying it is.......... In the last three months I have been to at least 4 or 5 different McDonald's in several states (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky) (OK, so I like McDonalds, sue me)................ the point is in all those transactions not the slightest word was said about any coin shortage, and I always got exact change back including coins, each and every time. McDonald's handles just as much coins (probably more) than Kroger ever does.

WHAT IS THE REAL DEAL, people???
To all the nay sayers and critics who come after us both, let me say in advance: F**CK YOU.
Now. To the above point: Yes, this is all a scam. Kroger and some other retailers want everyone to switch to plastic. I'm not doing it. Everywhere this happens at, I'm going to hold up an entire line getting my cash transactions rung up---or I'm going to steal the merchandise. That simple. This is still the United States of America, and cash and coins are still legal tender.
We've got too many people complying with too many bull$hit 'policies' in this country, and it needs to stop. You lose every battle you refuse to fight. I'm not afraid to do that. I've had my ass kicked and I've gone to jail, I'm unafraid of either. Refusing to put up with $hit doesn't mean you're a trouble maker.
So: Do as I do. Take your time, hold up the line, and wait to pay in cash. Trust me---They'll do it every time.
Wait,What?Kroger gives coin change,I should know since I'm a cashier. Maybe it's a local issue to you.
Now as to your point of cash being legal tender, yes it can be accepted as tender but there is no legal requirement for a business to accept it as tender for payment. If you want proof then look at the federal reserve website FAQ section.
Saying that you are going to steal if you don't get your way and pay cash though is seriously immature and you sound like an angsty teenager or an old cranky retirement age fool.Go to jail for stealing you big tough person you.You think anonymous strangers on the internet are going to care what happens to you.
The Walmarts in my area were pulling the same crap for awhile, but a big % of the people here are cash n carry. So it flopped on them.
I commerce with 3 different banks, and between that and all the small businesses who have no idea what this so called shortage is about. I'm calling bull**** on this too.

So you mean small businesses were able to obtain a few rolls of change.. GREAT! Do you not understand big boxes have multiple registers and dispense hundreds of dollars in change daily? Yes, some people pay with change, but this wasn't been happening like it did before COVID. What benefit do you believe retailers gained by this "fake" shortage? Either the made people pay with a CC and incurred the processing charges or were at time not able to give people change. Yes, the company placed the change difference on the shopper card, but what benefit did the company or any other retailer gain.
OH.....I guess all the retailers got together and decided they wanted to deal with customer complaints and additional cost for something they could control. When this all started stores were maybe receiving 1/4 what they ordered or at times nothing. This 1/4 could have been only pennies, dimes or nickels or quarters and they had no control of what was delivered.
I love how people question stupid stuff like this, but don't question why the IRS called them for past due taxes and need them to purchase $5000 in I-Tunes Gift Cards.....right NOW.

Shut up ass hole. There is plenty of change there is no chain shortage its just another bull**** lie you crooks made up to cheat people and put more pennies in your tiny checks already. if you cant give the customers change back then close the ****en store you ****en thieves
Paying cash is satisfying a private debt with legal tender. Kroger gives up some control by allowing cash. They would just as soon be rid of cash and take away that last little bit of privacy. I'll bet people wearing the formerly forbidden masks and also paying cash drives corporate nuts so LETS ALL DO IT. No reason why everyone in town shouldn't also use the same phone number to get discounts and screw the app.

Well what seems funny to you is a reality to others. Did you know that even PayPal has started to accept Bitcoin? It is as electricity, exists notwithstanding if you believe in it or not. I chose to buy some of it, but heard the rumors that apt people can pinch a bit off my accounts so I will supplement it with Bitcoin tumbler for better security while finalizing my transactions. In fact even many shops accept BTC now.
This cr-ap is real dumb @$$. What do you believe 2+3 =6?
Hurr durr stop smelling like ass and brush your ass
Funny how I missed this and that was not me dummy. I was at Taco Bell one day and they had a sign up about Due to National coin shortage bla bla bla. I got to the Window my total was $5.06. The girl asked if I had any change, I laughed and said no mam I have a change shortage. She gave me a dirty look. And closed the door turned around and said something to her coworkers while holding the bag with my food. I asked her what she said and she just laughed.

Youre the last person to call any one dumb. What you typed doesnt even make sense. Im sure you got laugh at all the time with that pathetic humor you force on people. Pretty sure she told her co workers to spit in your food. Well deserved

I thought it was funny. I do not go there anymore it's fake Mexican Food.
Has Taco Bell ever claimed to be "Mexican food"? It's food; you either like it or you don't, you're not being duped.
No they never claimed to be Mexican Food. But Taco's Burritos Nacho's and something they took off the menu was the best Mexican Pizza. Now all that pretty much tells you they want to be Mexican.
There's no such thing as coinds. Coins can't melt jelt full.
What the hell is Jelt Full?
Anyways, they said we were having a "coin shortage" at work. Couldnt give out change to customers if they paid cash that required coins coming back. One customer had this happen so he dipped into the donation for special needs (open canister for some reason) on the checkstand and pulled out what he was owed and left. I've NEVER seen management so LIVID that he did that.
Customer was told to put it back. He left and said, if you cant pay me my coins, I'll take it from the donstions.

Next day we had a coin delivery.
Good on that customer. The coin shortage is fake. Its a scam devised by associates to steal more pennies. kroger needs to shut down if they cant give you youre correct money back or fire the thieving associates
The coin shortage is just another lie, especially from Kroger stores. They have plenty of change but as some one already stated its just a ploy devised by thieves to steal money for themselves. By the end of the shift they have no doubt earned at least an extra 80 to 100 bucks that day tax free. Kroger associates are just thiefs and liars.
It's not fake. Stop being a dumb @$$. You must listen to conspiracy theroists. I fact checked a lot of those people that were top of their game and most of them can't even hold a job, are on the run a lot and keep moving to avoid detection, eventually they begin to believe their own lies.

We havent had a delivery of dimes in a month or more. Theres definitely a coin shortage
Take cash only and shut down debit system for a few days. I bet the so called coin shortage would be fixed. People would get money out of their bank account.
I do not know what to tell you about the dimes I personally do not believe that.

It is FAKE! youre just upset us customers are on the wise about your dishonesty.
Why do people think everything is ridiculous? What benefits do stores have for being out of change? Why would multiple companies and different types of business be saying the same thing unless it was true? Also, business are consumers just like the average person, they can't force the Federal Reserve to produce more change. Its like a average person telling their congressmen to do something....

Let me guess you have never worked with $$ and have no idea how much $$$ a store handles in a day. Most stores I would assume would need at least $2500-$8000 in coin change a week to operate normally. That is kind of hard to find in the sofa if the bank indicates they can supply the $$.
