I asked to work Thanksgiving a short shift from 9am-1pm because of some family (tested and free of COVID) for thr holiday. We see them 3 times a year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter) and they scheduled me 9am to 5pm.
We had the volunteer sign up sheet with the times we would like to work. Do they not read these things, are they just stupid, or are they illiterate? I say all 3.
I checked the schedule and we have tons of help to last. So with that said, when I clock out at 1pm, I should be ok right? Would management pitch a major fit?

They certainly will.

Of course they would. Why wouldnt they? And this is because management during the holidays are going to monitor the whereabouts of their scheduled employee at ALL times more than ever. It's being done like this at my store as well. I'm sure you family will wait for you.

Everybody has that same excuse not to work on Thanksgiving. I got to see my Aunt Brenda Sue I only see her once a year. You work retail unless you have been there a long time you are probably gonna be scheduled a full day on Thanksgiving.

The contract for the Louisville Division says that store is to be scheduled by inverse seniority and anyone scheduled will only be required to work four hours.

Wrong. Thanksgiving does not mean work 8 hours unless your management.
