Why does a dept. that still with this pandemic going on bring in such little money to the store have so many people? Always receiveiving negative customer reviews about being in the way are so highly praised? Our pick-up dept works night shift sits back in their room and talks for hours at a time at the beginning of the shift and they still say they need more help and complain how everyone else around them is lazy. So hypocritical. I understand kroger is trying to prepare for future market trends but this is still pretty far off considering how many more people still prefer to physically shop themselves. Is anybody else frustrated by this at their store?
I know the crew at my store, including the lead, is lazy. The constantly pull from other departments (which are shorthanded) so they can catch up, and as a result move even slower. Meanwhile, no product is getting on the shelf.
We have our share of problems in my store. Some of us are overworked while others call off all the time and do the bare minimum. It is a struggle for me and my supervisor. Some days we really don't have enough people scheduled to handle 200+ orders a day. Other times we SHOULD be able to get the work done but struggle because of some lazy people holding us back.

As a lead, isnt it your job to make sure they work harder, or if they are a liability to convince them to quit? Why should departments have to suffer so pick up can be covered? Shopping for people isnt that hard.

We luckily haven't pulled people from other departments in a long time. I don't like doing it either, i understand that other departments have plenty to do, i get that more than most since i came from a service department.
As far as the excessive call offs, i do my part by tracking who calls off and when but if management is slacking on the write ups for it, what am i to do? i give them a list every day of who calls off.
I hated the leader from this dept in Carson City NV. his name is Luis Torres and he is such a lazy, arrogant, and actually he never split the tips for all of us because he always take them out so he can keep the tips just for himself. He has no clue how to run a dept because he got hired because Reno store hated him so he got the position easily in Carson. I had to change to other dept because cant take his BS
