Today we had a staff meeting. Some corporate people came by and wanted to get our input. Well, I voiced my opinion about our main problem of theft. That maybe we wouldnt have to be our own security if we actually had DECENT security that are NOT AFRAID to put hands on if needed.
I told them greeting customers and shoplifters alike does NOT WORK. And shoplifters know this. Just yesterday, we had a guy walk out with a ton of meat and beer with a big grin on his face as we looked him and called for (non) "security."
I told them that it's getting ridiculous. Something NEEDS to be done.
So after the meeting I checked my schedule before it gets hung up. They reduced my hours from 32 next week down to 16. Well, guess what? I am STILL going to work the 32. They did this because I voiced my opinion and let them know how things are going and this is how they thank me.
With all the Kroger **** sandwiches I'm force fed on the daily, the last thing I'm going to get myself worked up over is theft. Doesn't affect me in the least. Kroger doesn't care about their employees or customers. Perhaps this experience with your hours being reduced for questioning corporate policies will be a wake up call. Do your job, do your best but don't go above and beyond for this company. It is not and will not be appreciated or even noticed for that matter. If it doesn't personally affect you, don't sweat it. Work your scheduled shift and when you leave, leave it all behind.

You are not allowed to do that and you will be written up probably for stealing time since it wasnt authorize. This is way Kroger is the way it is with piss poor associates not doing their job. just plain lazy and entitled. A pay cut should be in order as well!
I'm still working it more than ever now. They reduced my hours down to 15 with the posted schedule. What I should do, is work 33 hours instead of 32. I may just do that.
Being punished for voicing my opinion when they asked for it is a piss poor way of handling things.
If the company was smart they would install cameras in each directing when entering and existing and then also cameras catching license places at parking lot entrances and exits. The reason they don't want people stopping shoplifters is because some Associates are not smart enough and stop actual customers. The $200 loss isn't worth the $500-$1000 that they may be forces to payout if an Associate goes overboard with someone who actually paid. You can't stop shoplifting, but if shoplifters know no ones is paying attention or will actually prostitute, they will just smile and keep doing it. I'm really surprised they haven't hired someone for each store to be the "Shrink Security Monitor", for both internal and external shrink. Someone making $40k a year will most likely stop $100k+ a year in shrink, if they stop a few pushouts a week.
It's a write off for the company so they dont give a crap about theft. I could care less either if ppl are stealing stuff
You mean you couldn't care less. Saying you could care less means you care some and it's possible for you to care less. Saying you couldn't care less means you don't care at all.
