Usually, if a manager is hated, they are doing their job correctly.
Yes, we have a store manager that almost everyone dislikes. I don't have a problem with the manager. I think it is humorous how they rattled every ones' cage within two weeks of transferring here. Our store needed it.
My coworkers can either like me or hate me. I don't care as long as they do their jobs.
Have you ever heard the phrase: "People don't quit jobs they quit managers"?
That's what typically happens. It's also what I did. My manager was always up my butt and looking for things to annoy me over so I quit and threw my uniform at their feet.

Never heard the phrase.
Although, I suppose it did happen to me when I quit my job before Kroger. After 6 months of the new manager, I just stopped showing up to work after having perfect attendance for 5 years straight. I haven't called in to Kroger in over 10 years. I had passed out twice while getting ready for work.
I have seen about 6 manager changes over the years, this has to be the most irritating one I have seen. Most managers come in and make a few gradual changes. This one changed everything trying to follow the corporate SOP with his own interpretation. HR even got called in for an employee gripe session.
Like I posted earlier, he made adjustments to my department too and they don't bother me too much.
I do like how he got rid of most of the shippers and other displays all over the store. The sales floor is less cluttered since he has been here. But, that could have been the center store manager causing that to happen.
I got three store managers fired by filing ethics report to stop bull sh-it from happening at the store level.
Our fes keeps failing mystery shops (because they don't care) and he's starting to throw us under the buss because of it. Now all of a sudden he's making those that were being lazy a$$es to do their actual jobs.

That's pretty much my story had a bad manager. Just because a manager is bad does not always mean he is doing his job. That same week he got transferred the same day he got a Co Manager fired.
This manager made comments he had the DM in his back pocket and he also made comments he was never wrong about anything. You would just have to heard the way he said those things. The one before him was not much different was also an *******.
