What is your position?  What state are you in?

Here, they give away full time like candy.  All you have to do is work 40 hours a week for a year and you are full time.  It took me 8 years and 15 bids to get full time.  Now, sometimes I wish I could go backwards.

Currently, my store is having a difficult time hiring people.  People can go down the street and make $4 more an hour starting pay.  Many long time employees have left for other jobs and they haven't been replaced.  Of course, store management is "business as usual"  oblivious that we don't have enough people to run the store properly.

I am starting to ponder if corporate sent us this store manager in order to run employees off.  Then, I wonder why.  Is it to make room for more demoted salaried employees?  Are they expecting the union to stick it to them by insisting on higher wages for the next contract?  Or, is the store manager is weeding out the slackers and we trying to build a superior work force that doesn't push back? Is corporate planning on turning the store into an amazon style robotics warehouse?

I want this gig to last another 15 years at least.  I am having a difficult time seeing that happen by watching the current trend.

Full time is only for management and punishment departments.

If someone is good at their position, it's too hard to replace them.

You probably aren't going to make any less money working somewhere else, so there's that.

They have probably seen you taking to many smoke breaks, going to the bathroom for 25 mins at a time or playing fatnite. Associates who show dedication, work hard and value the customer are sure ways to get full time.
