I have spent pretty minimal time as a cashier, but this has already happened to me so much I was wondering if anyone else has had this. When I get done scanning and tell the customer their total, and they stare blankly at me like I'm an idiot, and then I realize that they have already put their card in. And I guess they expect me to just realize that? Anyway, it kind of drives me nuts, let me know if you've had the same experience!
Yep! I've had it happen to me quite a bit. If you're not paying close enough attention to them they will start doing that and you not realize it. Typically it ends with me saying "Oh, sorry. I didn't realize." and hitting the button. lol

In most situations, always assume they are paying with a card. I'm guessing these customers that stare blankly are also the ones that don't say hi or even look your way....until they are like WTF at the end at you!
