CanNot help the employees moral
Permalink

In King Soopers Highlands Ranch we had a TV on until a month ago in the lounge. We got new store management which refuses to pay the Dish Network bill so that we can not watch  TV on our breaks . In fact the new store manager said to an employee we ( store management) arent here to accommodate the employees! Seriously! We employees are the ones that work our butts off to bring in money and they treat us like dogs . The longer they have the TV turned off of course Dish Network will charge late fees until its paid and this is a multi billion company we are talking about that can not pay the cable bill.

I know the TV is kind of in material but its something we can take our busy and stressful minds off for at 30 minutes .

Well, I just had to put this out there to show how cheap this company is and dont care attitude towards employees.

I've only ever worked for 1 company who had a TV with cable/dish in the break room that was IKEA. However it was only on the news and could not be changed. I honestly have no sympathy for you because honestly thats what phones are for these days.

Speak for yourself. It's nice to be able to plop down in a chair and watch 15 or 30 minutes of tv and forget about the workday. As far as paying for satellite or cable goes, I gave up paid tv years ago and went back to using an antenna. People have been paying for tv for so long that they've forgotten that you can get it for free.

Just watch tv on your smartphone if you have one. That way you can watch what you want to watch without having to do a "majority rules" and watch shows that hold no intrest to you.

TV? Hell, we don't even have A/C in our damn break room. Don't hardly have A/C in the store either.

Then they bumped up the starting pay, but deleted our upcoming raises.

Then told us to wear the mask again, while hot and sweaty with no A/C.

Morale? Pfft.

Kroger's strategy is to have their employees constantly on the verge of quitting, apparently.

Its funny, the STR Manager normally doesn't make these decisions and they wouldn't have any authority to even install cable. Hell, the STR Manager can't authorize any bills outside the purchase of product and or equipment and that is still handled by the Division/Corporate office.  If anything, they should have just installed a Digital Antenna and received local channels.

If raises are in your union contract (if your store is union) then they MUST give those raises no questions asked pay increase or not.

I have one of those old aerial antennas that you used to see on people's roofs up in my attic.  I connected it to my tv and was able to pick up over 60 digital channels.  Granted there were quite a few shopping channels and religious programming but even after deleting those, I still have almost 50 channels to watch.  Granted I can't watch the latest and greatest thing to be on pay tv but I never did anyway.

Moral is low company wide. It's so low that they're throwing paper work grading to improve our moral. You can't fu-cken fix what is broken.

That's the (new) BS contract the union just got for us.

Once signed, it increased starting pay, but canceled all upcoming raises.

You cant expect morale to go up when management treats people the way they do

Yep. During a staff meeting, we had a surprised unannounced visit from the DM and a few other corporate guys. They were basically giving us the same b.s. spiel and whatnot. Then they asked us for suggestions. One of my co-workers basically said they are tired of slashed hours, lack of security, and no rewards for meeting goals. Corporate took this in and let the guy speak his peace.
They said no one would be punished for speaking their mind being as corporate asked what was on our minds.
This meeting g took place 2 weeks ago, and my co-worker since then "quit." I say "quit" because management said he found a "new job" elsewhere.

We've never had cable.  Public television only.

Management outright stole the couches, tables, and chairs.

The "Cultural Council" or whatever they are called now bought a shockingly crappy folding table and took the remaining table and chairs from the deli.

It's reduced grazing and management got free furniture, so it's a win-win.  I guess.  Unless you use the break room.

It's gotten to now night crew throws thank you parties for those who work on night crew and puts it on Kroger's tab.
Our I.C.C. clerk takes damaged product and broken 12 pack sodas and gives them to us.
Heck, it's going to be tossed anyway so why not give it to us?
