 I understand your sentiments but I think your first sentence contradicts itself a little.  I would say "Kroger COULD BE a great company, but in reality Kroger is a terrible company because of the CEO and much of the upper management and their long-running BAD decisions".

There are so many different reasons why Kroger is bad and getting worse, that it would take several days and untold thousands of pages of text to explain and cover it all!!!!!  

Kroger is a terrible company that only exists due to uncompetitive behavior in the 1990's.
