I'm coming more to the belief that this staffing lack isn't just from people not wanting to work. The rich corps have looked at the extra $$ they've made since this 'pandemic' began and collectively said 'huh. Whyn't we just keep this trend going and downsize everything! Keep reducing hiring, cut more work hours, reduce hours of operatrion and raise prices!'
Closing earlier probably makes a significant difference in shrink figures too.
Around here, I'd say at least a quarter of customers after 10:00 pm are shoplifters.
One of the stores in my town closed a few yrs ago. The theft there was insane. I was watching people waltz right out the front door, broad day light, with overflowing carts of unpaid for sht.
But they'd been the last store to keep overnight hours and I think they did it so long the theft boldness extended into day hours, and by then it was too late to save anything. The 'security' they hired at the last was a freakin joke.
