I'm surprised she's lasted half way through the probationary period. She only shows up 2 out of 5 shifts and really abuses the call out privilege. Shows up for 2.5 shifts then calls out for 2-2.5 shifts. In a kiosk job where it goes unnoticed when an employee isn't there; let's just say sales have plummeted. Gotta love stores that fail to use their union rights to fire people with flakey attendance. We all need income as money doesn't grow on trees but this is getting ridiculous. I worked with one guy last year who called out for 60% of their shifts and managed to last 2-3 years before he was fired for bad attendance.
The flakiest of society is what kroger employees because that's all the job attracts. Those of us who have been into it for most of our career can't cut a break.
I have always found most HR Managers are disconnected from the Store and what the Departments really need. Higher up only see the issue being staffing, so hiring "anyone" is the fastest solution, but ultimately the downfall. Plus, who decent is going to apply or stick around too long if people they work with get away with murder or do as they please?
I think they need to back to the way it used be. Everybody started out as a bagger. If you proved to be a good worker and reliable, you could move to another department when a spot opened up.
