Finally disciplined a coworker who was calling out for 95% of their shifts. It took 3 friggen months to discipline them. From a humanity point of view you feel bad for them but you give people a job and they don't want to do the job. Mean while it's hurting the store and business at the same time. This issue has been going on so long we've lost a small percentage of our business due to it.
Thank goodness finally. This was getting old. They scolded them and forced her to come in today. They were pi-ssed and gave attitude the whole shift but at least we were not without the assistance. Though with their attitudes and tantrums it would of been better if they just reduced them to two days a week. They were totally useless today when they came in. I doubt they'll last much longer. It sucks it takes 6+ months to terminate people in a union protected job.
It isn't uncommon for most associates to call out at least once a month. Be they honest or not. This was pushing it too far. You give people a job and they only show up once a week if even that. That's a bit ridiculous. In other companies I've worked for they begin to discipline attendance issues within a week or two. They don't drag it out to month 3 or for before doing anything.
Please don't praise their anti work attitude. Even in a job that isn't the most desirable you still need to do it.

Why would you feel bad for them? Do they have medical issues such as chemotherapy, radiation, or other cancer treatments? What about dialysis? Heart trouble? Other medical issues? If there's no medical reason for them not showing up, then it's their own fault if they get disciplined or fired.
