seriously, what the hell do they do? beside from sitting in the office, i've never seen them do anything. they walk around and tell you to do stupid off-the-wall things that have nothing to do with your job. they try to look busy, but it takes 2 seconds to see that they do nothing, not even throw a single case on the shelf. i mean call me vein, but i do more work with my pinky finger than they do in a week. is there some secret super duper hard work they do in the shadows? forgive me, i'm a bit angry, but i guess that's what happens when you work here.

Our old manager when it was busy was in the office with 2 other people. We were hit bad with lines. They were in the office playing with a Buzz Lightyear ' action figure making it say 'To infinity and beyond!' I was sent by a customer to ask them to come out. The manager responded with "Tell them to check faster." And resumed playing with Buzz Lighyear cackling away in the office. I mean seriously W.T.B.F.H.?!?

 Our manager tells us if we had a better plan, our department would run just fine.  In the bakery department in a perfect world we would have on a daily basis:

two 8-hour people to do bread and doughnuts

an 8-hour person to get the order and put out pre-made stuff

two 8-hour people to do cake orders and make cupcakes and other novelties

one 8-hour person or two 4 or 6-hour people to bake and box cookies, pies, etc.

Most days we have an average of three people the entire day.  Some days we only have two.  Other days, if we're lucky, we have four.  On days we have two or three people the bakery closes at 5PM.

The 3 manin reasons people go into management is:

* More money

* Power over others (that seriously is like a drug to some)

* A solid excuse to be lazy

That crack from that manager about 'if you had a better plan..' Next time that prick says that remind him HE'S in charge, and he needs to lead with HIS plan. Because that is 100% correct, bet he shuts the fk up and you never hear from him again.

Normal for them. They do like 2 hrs of on the floor work and sit on their asses the rest of the day. Our wine steward does this sh-it too. He'll work the load. Due to his speed he does it in <3 hrs and gossips in the managers office the rest of the shift. They don't harang him for being lazy but reward him because sales are up. Well he knows how to kiss customer's @$$es to get what they want so they keep coming back.
