The plan-demic created such an unexpected culture of laziness that corp. America is literally BEGGING for help. Every where. New opportunities for high paying jobs are more available now then they've ever been in the nation's history. It's like a reverse of the Great Depression.
If you don't like Kroger in particular or retail in general (and you shouldn't, it sucks), now is the time to find something better and move on.
If you don't and you're still upset you have no one to nlame but yourself.

Thats exactly what I did. More money, more happiness, no corrupt union, but less vacation time. Well worth the tradeoff.
I meant to sarcastically reply about Dvorak's New World Symphony, but then it turned out you weren't even wrong.
You're not even wrong.
One of my coworkers (who has worked for Kroger for more than a decade) was telling me about her son.
He works for McDonald's, makes more than she does, and he's ... happy.
He's actually happy at his job.
For him, every day is not a struggle.
He doesn't even want to to kill himself.
He's almost making a reasonable amount of money for a determined and hardworking child.
It's not enough for a terrible ghetto cardboard studio apartment, but he doesn't know that part yet.
The innocence of youth.
Kroger should not make you want to Kill yourself. If it does, then get out there are better things. I got out before I got that way. Now I help my mother get her whatever she needs.
I also buy used Computers and I see if I can fix them haven't sold any just fixing them learning it myself. I have also helped out on my uncle's farm when I was needed.
I love being treated decently by managers. Normally we get every variety of obnoxious bullying. Any really nasty stuff they try to do outside of the market needs to be carefully hidden, so be alert for espionage of all sorts. DO NOT let their apps or QR codes into your devices.
Taking a little time off and getting a real job soon. Good luck to you!
Unfortunately the only jobs that are out there are minimum wage jobs with large 500k corporations. The jobs that we had in the 70's, 80's and 90's are no longer or significantly less and more difficult to get. Children (now probably adults) are spoiled and just want everything handed to them. They don't know how to work from the bottom up. Unfortunately that's all that's hiring. When these children become adults they had everything handed or done for them so they lack even the basic of skills towards these jobs. So they struggle through them and barely survive.
