If your caught stealing and do not fight if caught, then depending on the amount they may let you go once they complete all the necessary paperwork. However if you fight or throw hands, then your gonna eat asphalt and be brought in.

A few yrs ago Walmart had this thing of placing their 'associates' at the front of both ends of their stores, and they were stopping everyone like Gestapo border guards. Checking their receipts against their merch. At the stores in my town these people were almost 100% black, and that led to the first issue: they weren't stopping other blacks.
But little old white ladies and their elderly husbands were getting the sht harrassed out of them, and that produced a number of heated phone calls to corporate.
But the real brake stomper was when a woman successfully sued the HELL out of a store for what turned out to be a false stop. She got a few million out of that.
The only thing that really bothers me about all this is, theft IS crazy over the top every where now. Retailers are closing stores nation wide it's so bad. I can see a day coming where it's gonna be online and curb dash only just for them to survive, and then the poor, inner city folks without without resources are gonna suffer from it.
