New hire here just stared a week ago part time. I didn't know you need an iPhone to install Kroger feed app. Lucky my mom has a iPhone but I can't always use her phone. This is my first job. It's annoying that store manager didnt tell me.
You do not need an IPhone. You can do anything you need to do on a store computer or supposedly a Zebra device. So far the app isn't on the Zebras at my store. We're starting MyTime in a couple weeks and I'll use either a Zebra or a store computer to punch in and out. Believe it or not, I do not own a smartphone. My phone can only make and receive calls. Also, if you put the MyTime app on your phone, it installs geo-tracking software. That's to prevent someone from punching the clock and saying they're at work when they're actually somewhere else.
The problem with the store computer is that I never have time to go check due to having to be constantly stocking or helping bagging. The store manager told me I probably won't have time to watch the videos or do the quiz.

There is a way around that. If the geo-tracking is supposed to block you from clocking in at work when your not, then if you really wanted to, couldn't you show up at work, clock in, put your phone in airplane mode to keep it from tracking you, then go elsewhere?
I'm always highly suspicious of apps like these because there is almost always a way to get around them.

Where is the logic in going to work to keep from having to go to work? Also, I'm suspicious of apps like that because I think they're dangerous and can easily be misused. They still track you even if your phone is turned off. The only way to prevent it is to take the battery out.

Your sm sounds like a real jackass and has set you up for for failure. I'd be finding something else pronto.
You can download MyTime on an android too. There should be 5 large posters(with QR codes to get app) explaining everything in the break room or nearby. I will not be using my phone for this app. I could not find it on the zebra yet. MyTime app on phone, computer terminal at work or the Zebra will be used to punch in and out. I am not sure if they will keep the current time clocks.
Here, the 4 managers in charge of it are learning about it on the 5th, tomorrow. Everyone must enter their availability into the new MyTime program. Or, Someone needs to re enter all the availabilities. They still need to distribute new employee numbers used to punch in and out on this new system
Note above time clock at my store:
"Starting April 27th, any requests for time off scheduled after May 22 must be entered into the new MyTime program by logging into Mytime.kroger.com "
This will be like any new program Kroger rolls out. Chaos. But, those who designed it will pat themselves on the back for a successful roll out.
For the 2 week out schedule, we need to start asking for time off 6 days ago but the 4 managers in charge of it do not even know all the details and our new employee IDs have not been distributed.

I am so glad I left this crazy company. They want you to install an app with geo tracking. I know you can use the time clock or a computer.
But do they require you to have the app for other things? I remember a time a manager suggested we install some instant messenger chat thingy. It was so annoying people would not leave you alone always asking you to work for them for one reason or another. So actually, the people not wanting to work thing is not anything new. It has just gotten worse I cannot imagine working in retail now.

I wouldn't download anything like that on any personal device of mine. I've talked to several people and they've all said they're not downloading the app to their devices either. It's going to be a real problem when several people have to punch the clock and there's not enough Zebras or computers to go around.

Or, when the Zebras get lost and stolen. I already saw a memo mentioning how expensive they are and how they are already disappearing.
