Local 1059 Negotiations

Local 1059s contract is up in August, wondering if anyone's heard any info on how negotiations are going or what might be on the table. I've heard absolutely zilch from my store.

It's too early to start negotiations. Usually they don't start until about a month before the current contract is up.

Don't waste energy worrying about it, it's all a joke. Union / company contract negotiations are all handled via texts and e mails. No one is 'sitting on each side of the table with their sleves rolled up and doing battle' or what ever.

Believe me (or don't, idgaf), unions are nothing but paper tigers now. Only 'wins' they get or 'concessions' the companies make are all pre arranged sht that neither the union reps benefit from nor the company loses by giving up.

It's all an appeasement to keep those union dues coming in, and those workers productive on the job.

I'm not worried, just curious. This is the first time a job I've worked has been involved in a Union, so I'm just wondering how the process goes. I'm not expecting anything good to come out of it lol

Generally you'll keep what you already have but something will be taken away from new hires.

In reality, your not going to get anything more then the other contracts in other areas of the country.....They can negotiate all they want, but in reality....all the locals need to get together are bargain as one. Oh...wait.....if they did that.....the overpaid Union Presidents, Vp's wouldng be needed and have job security.

Seeing as I'm a "new hire" (4 months ago), that doesn't surprise me. Good thing I'm looking for a different job I knew my time at Kroger would be limited because I refuse to sell my soul to a corporate scheme if it doesn't end up being worth it. The increasing costs and frankly ridiculous lack of hours mean that the increased wage is already unsustainable and unlivable. My husband works full time at the same store (2y) and we're barely gonna be able to afford bills this month unless I find something else. Got my name in for a better job so here's hoping.

Vote to strike. Always. Why not? Just to let them know you realize they are krap.

Voting in a union is like voting for a presidential election: your vote don't count for SH!T. The leadership just does what ever the hell they've been boguht and bribed to do.
