quick question for anyone. I recently applied for a job bid at my work and went up against a girl who had more seniority but had like 6 points.. my resource leader stated that she got the bid not because of seniority but because I have just been there for 4 months and I need 6 months to be eligible to apply for a bid but seemed a bit skeptical when explaining . However, other people in my work place are saying otherwise that as long as probation has been passed I should be eligible. Anyone have any links that might guide me the right direction? I would highly appreciate it.
seniority should not matter in jobs and applying for them. I can not tell you how many people have surpassed me in job positions who had less seniority than me. I can not tell you how many times they've considered "normal" people over "disabled" by law they must chose disabled but the company is in violation of this law. I can not tell you how many times I've seen the company hire in cheaper people over jrnyman paid individuals.
If applying internally some seniority might matter but you can file for a union grievance.
Good luck if you're a white male, they are looking to move people up from within All the time, but they want to promote DIVERSITY. I got passed over so long until we ran the word "discrimination" by them- and they laughed- "discriminate" ? A white guy? HA! Oh no, henny, I'm a Gay white guy.

LOL, I've actually pulled that card before! That's how fked up a 'culture' we live in now!
On job aps I now opt for 'prefer not to say' on the race / gender qs.
If it really doesn't matter or can be used against me.....why ask?
I'm probably one of a small handful of MALE bakery managers, in the few meetings where we all convene for this or that I'm always shocked that almost every bakery dept head is a woman, most hispanic or black. As a white guy I feel like the biggest minority. Some privilege I have.

All the ones I've seen have been white females. The reason it's mostly women is because a lot of guys think working in a bakery isn't masculine enough for them. It's the reverse when it comes to meat department. Our meat department has only one woman working in it. The rest are all men. One good thing about working in the bakery is we have the best samples. Anytime we get a new item of course we have to sample it to see if it's good. Most of the time it is, but there have been a couple things that none of us liked. The most recent item is those new scones. They're dry as a bone and tasteless. The birthday cake soft top cookies were pretty bad too.

American white males are now public enemy #1 the world over. We're guilty of and responsible for everything. We're having sht held against us perpetrated by people dead for decades, done to by people dead for decades.
And of course the real motivations behind it have nothing to do with revenge or justice or social / cultural righting-of-wrongs; it's somply a power play based on fear and guilt.
On the flip side is some humor / good news: all this 'diversity and inclusion' is quickly blowing up. These people don't know how to actually DO SHT. Nor do they care to learn or have any real work ethic, as you tend not to when everything has been handed to you free for generations.
These things alone are how this country is failing and rotting from the inside, and will be the source of how and when we collapse-----and are literally taken over, probably by China or India or the Mid East. G'awn and laugh, all the signs are glaringly obvious.

We need more people like Donald Trump and Ron Desantis and Marjorie Taylor Green who are saying enough with the wokeism and radical left-winged Liberalism. We need more Conservatives to take over the media outlets so people can hear or read the whole story, not just what fits the narrative. Here's one thing we can all do. If you see a woke commercial, do not buy that company's products if at all possible.

They dont have to choose disabled over regulars on job bids. They have to give them equal opportunities to apply...that's it. But as for choosing them over regular people...no.
I have nothing over disabled people but if the job requires certain abilities that are hard for disabled to do to accomplish the task, and a normal person can do the tasks needed for the job, who am I going to pick...the regular guy. But I will not deny the disabled a chance to try the position.
