Grocery department is now down to 3 workers. Two quit this week.
All departments all understaffed asf. Like frozen only has 2. dairy has 2 now.
Drug/GM is only at 3
Pick Up is down to 8 but 3 are out due to sickness.
This is their 4th week not scheduling folks in dairy and this is annoying due to times Ive being alone trying to stock shelves and this one store leader stops me and tell me to stock milk and then finish the pallets I have to do. Gets upset when I dont finish.
Don't quit because you are overwhelmed. It is not your fault that they can't find employees to do the job.
You are one person trying to do your best. If you can do more, then try to.
If it were me in your situation, I would work the overtime while it is available.
The managers see what needs to be done but don't really understand how much time and effort it takes to get the job done.
Your store managers need to solve the staff shortage problem.

Btw, management in these places knows exactly how absurd their demands are; they don't care. They're buckling under pressure from their bosses to not only mainitain former full staffed production---but actually exceed it. Their success and job lengevity deprends on how well they achieve their bonuses, and that's why they too, like their hourly employees, are constantly coming and going in these places.
Best move is just to get the hell out of retail. I did some years ago and couldn't be happier

Sure is hard to hire and retain employees in a company like this when there is anywhere else to go. Shop elsewhere, friends. Looking for work? KEEP LOOKING. You can find something that is ok and kroger is not!
I quit around the time of this post. It felt amazing. My back keeps thanking me.

Good for you! Retail SUCKS. If we're telling the truth, it never was intended to be a long term-'this is how I support myself, a wife and a family' type of job. In years gone by you techinically could do that....but you had to work yourself to death to get any hrs, and even then the money was so meager yall were living hand-to-mouth.
I went to hs with a guy who this exactly described. He'd apparently never heard of birth control and he and his orifice kept punchin out one bastard after another. Back then Kroger would give you inlimited OT, and this dude was working 100-plus hrs a week. NO BS. ... Had a heart attack by his mid 30s tho and ended up on disability., making NO money and without options to find a new career path.
